Steemit: collecting APR?

in steemguide •  7 years ago

The APR rate is decided by the top witnesses. Witnesses are those who have servers dedicated to Steemit and the transactions with the coin.

If they decide to increase the APR, it will come back. There would have to be a need for it. The previous need was to have people hold onto their Steem, so the APR was the tool used to encourage that.

It was nice when it was happening - free Steem!

Thx @getonthetrain, your comment was helpful. Are there any official announcements or explanations out there on this APR topic?

It all happens behind the scenes. Your best bet to keep up with this type of info is to follow the top witnesses as they sometimes make a post with the changes they do (or are planning).

so, when do they pay your for holding SBD. At the end of the year, monthly or daily basis?

Monthly, I am not sure what day, but it isn't like the 1st or anything. It might be the day of the month you initially got SBD, or maybe the day of the month you started your account.

I think it would be great if they Steemit come up with some explanation in this regard. As you said, it was used as tool to encourage users to hold onto their SBD then I think a little clarity in this regard would help promote that. Tx
