Some years ago, I created a site that introduced the ability to create advertisements using Steem. Advertisers could develop ads, and websites could add the ads to their pages. The website received a portion of the ad revenue and the visitor (if they were a Steemian) who viewed the page or clicked on the link on the ad.
Here is the process of creating an advertisement.
In addition to the advertisements, the site was set up to give Steemians unique websites. On this website, the "Hosts" were able to bookmark their own or others' posts. Select "Contributors" so other people's content appeared like an online magazine. There was also the ability to create content that was not on Steem.
Source (I haven't bothered updating the SSL)
This image shows how I set up the manual for the site. It would hyperlink to Steem posts. We had an author on the site who set up a table of contents for his book on Steemhost, pointing to pages on Steemit. By doing this, he continued to earn Steem revenue well past the 7-day point based on the advertising.
As you can see, we were up and running. We had 62 Steemians set up as "Hosts." They had earned 32 Steem (it was worth around $2.50 at the time). Visitors who were Steemians had earn 16 Steem, and on that particular day there were 89 non-Steemians had visited the sites.
Unfortunately, I had relied on one Steem technology to ensure that the Steemians information was never exposed to our site (so we didn't need to have keys at all), and another Steem technology to connect to the Steem data. When they "absconded," it ended this project.
