Sustainable eco-friendly products are the solution to earth's life today. The Chip[s] Board was developed for that, reducing the negative environmental impact resulting from garbage disposal. Substitute for sustainable wood, made from potato skin waste made from industrial food processing.
The two designers, Rowan Mirkley and Robert Nicoll, argue that
"circular economy" needs to be taken into consideration when designing new products.
The chip [s] board is an innovation, utilizing unused potato skin, as a viable and functional substitute for materials such as Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and chipboard.
Chip [s] Boards are biodegradable post-use and, unlike MDF, do not contain formaldehyde or resins and other toxic chemicals.
The MDF is indeed a useful material, but it also damages the environment as furniture waste that cannot be recycled must eventually be burned, and this is a source of new environmental problems again.
