Getting pronunciation right is tough because the English stress the second syllable, whereas the French give all syllables equal weight.

I agree; I met many people learning French, and they know many words, but the only issue I noticed was the pronunciation. Sometimes it makes it hard for the native speakers to understand quickly without having to listen too carefully.
