The world of model railways have come a long way since I was a kid.
We now have DCC digital control giving your model railway massive potential for more realistic operation.
Linked to this are these add on digital sound units to give your engines realistic sound that changes with their speed including stationery ticking over sounds. Not only that, you can use this decoder to control a myriad of other functions including lighting. Incredibly impressive to hear the trains as I found at a recent visit to an exhibition...just to relive my childhood don't ya know ;-)
Incredible kit but on the downside, the middle-aged, anorak model railway buffs are having to learn a whole new skill set; Coding! which they don't appear to be happy about.
Not enough hobbies, and interests on the blockchain and its my intention to bring you the latest gadgets in the Model Railway world, so watch this space!
(The photo of the loco is just to illustrate what the sound decoder goes into)
