Build Your Own Telephone Network

Hunter's comment

Telecommunications play an important role in developing a country, especially telephone technology is used as a means of communication.

Unfortunately, not all places can be reached with this telephone technology, even though we all know that telephone technology will greatly help a community or village to communicate for their progress.

Village Telco, an initiative to build a cheap telephone network hardware for community scale using open source applications, Telephony.

In addition to using Telephony as a software, Village Telco uses wireless mesh networking technology that is easy to implement.

Don't worry, the site provides all the information you need to build a telephone system that you can control and regardless of the dominance of telecommunication companies.

Awesome, thanks for yet another approval.

A good example for a telephony network. They are working to create a low-cost phone network infrastructure at community level using open source applications. I like those who do useful work. Thank you

When I read the comments, I understood that Telco is pretty expensive there. It is good to see new platforms useful for the people. I am happy for them.

Hahaha! I love the name and how they made the project sound easy and fun. If this could work then wow, they just freed people from overpriced telco services. Thanks for sharing. This is worth looking into.

This sounds easy and fun, but trust me, one of the Internet experts in my country has tried it in an area hit by natural disasters such as an earthquake which almost destroyed all infrastructure.

If this could work then wow, they just freed people from overpriced telco services.

Indeed, sometimes the monopoly of one telco service is really suffocating and too expensive. Just give it a try.

Cool. A lot of areas that are not yet connected to telecommunications networks will benefit from this technology. Hopefully, it's not too expensive to run.

Actually mesh networks like that are powerful than it is known in general but we are not much aware of it. Its mainly for local usage but there is no limit for size of the network, only thing needed is people to support open source and these kind of networking. Great Great Hunt!

That's right, this mesh network model can be adopted and used on a large scale, but sometimes the constraints are regulation of bandwidth and frequency limited by a place or country. Imagine if telecommunications technology is not only a monopoly of a particular party but a common property. Thanks for stopping by.

Definitely, monopoly and regulation issues are very real as you pointed out but also even now we can communicate with each other in the cities just with the range of our bluetooth modules for example but we lack of organization and awareness on the consumer side. Thats also a problem.
