The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a card base game from the elder scroll series were players have the ability to play in a PVP mode or PVE mode, while increasing your experience point and unlock various levels.
Well if you rather new to card games, I think The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a good starting pointing for you, as it comes in various devices ranging from steam to IOS and the graphics is superb.
The game comes with different avatars mode, each affecting the outcome of your game-play you will be able to use, most focus on defense and others on offense, while others on strategy and best way to guild your troop to victory.
If you looking for a card base game, or any strategy game for a brain booster or just entertainment, The Elder Scrolls: Legends just the game for you.

I have been given advice by one of my psychologist friend to try out new things to keep my brain active, this would create new neuro-paths.

Card games will always be popular and the Elder Scrolls is great theme for this type of games. I tried this game once but I think I prefer Hearthstone and now I prefer Steem Monsters.

Same here. I don't think any of the digital card games can really compete with Hearthstone yet. Steem Monsters is great, but it's not really a direct competitor to Hearthstone since the battles are automatic.
