whoa, i had no idea that we were at PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD's yet but here we are, 56% faster than the 970 EVO which is already pretty damn fast -- this thing is screaming fast and can you imagine these raided for like a rocksdb/mira kind of config? -- yeah for sure it's not gonna be cheap and you have to shell out for cutting edge kit to host them but hey, you'd have a screaming fast witness setup on your hands right? :)
When AMD launched its third-gen Zen 2-based Ryzen processors, it also introduced the next generation PCIe 4.0 controllers. Now, Gigabyte has launched one of the first PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs that shows the incredible speed potential of the new tech. The AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD can hit up to 5,000MB/s read speeds and 4,400 MB/s write performance. That's about 56 percent faster read and over double the write speeds of Samsung's 970 EVO, currently one of the fastest NVMe SSDs on the market

Double the speed of the EVO970 is absolutely stunning. The only thing that puts me off buying the very latest tech....OK, 2 things! are the price of course, you really have to pay for the latest kit, but more importantly, I like to hear about the reliability which I may be a throwback to the golden days but I did buy an early SSD which failed after a few months. It puts you off a little!! I also haven't heard of this manufacturer before so that would raise another, perhaps non-sensical flag for me!
I will wait to hear what the users say I think!!
Very cool nevertheless!
