Hunter's comment

if you told me when i was a teenager that i'd be able to build my own mobile phone for around $50 i would have said you were crazy but that is where we are today, using off the shelf components and a bit of open source software and a bit of spare time and effort, you too could own something like this and even build your own 3d printed box around it -- pretty neat.

ZeroPhone is an open source, Linux-powered, $50 smartphone. It has no carrier locks, bloated apps, or data mining, and it doesn’t depend on big companies - instead, its open source hardware and software give you as much control over your phone as possible

thank you very much.

This hunt is really clever fot it allows its users to learn how to assemble phones, plus you can learn a bit about programming and stuff. Outstanding hunto!

@jonsnow1983 yep, pretty fire :) 😎

Great hunt @teamhumble. A call phone in its most raw form and I love the geeky design. Looking at the screen size I wonder if any apps can ever be designed for it but may be it evolves. I definitely like the the idea that both hardware and software are open source and my privacy is not being breached by any one tech giant.

@karamyog cheers matey, i totally love the geeky design, i can totally imagine making a 3d printed custom case for it too -- i mean i don't know how safe or secure the open sourced parts are but we can hope right? especially if the open source code is open and being updated and added too 👍

Look at that, I just ordered pi zero because I want to make a crypto hardware wallet out of it and now, I found this. I'd order again to make a phone. And good suggestion on the 3d printed case, I think it would be cool to have a phone you built and nothing looks like it out there. Good find!

@mermaidvampire well then it was meant to be right? :) 😍

That is some really cool tech. I'd love to mess around with it to see how it works.
Great hunt @teamhumble, Have an awesome weekend dude!

Nice hunt @teamhumble!

As a lover of electronic kits, this seems an excellent product to play around with.

I don't have a raspberry pi yet and have always wanted to tinker around with one. This could be a great way for me to do so, especially at only $50.

I want one!

@donkeysworld.

@donkeysworld right? i have to get me one of these to play with 👍

Without mobile we cont live a second also.Using this we create our own customized mobile.

@lavanyalakshman well maybe a second, but i get what you mean1 :) 😀

great hunting I think it's good for people who want to experiment with the internal parts of a smarphone avoiding having to spend lots of money

@ederaleng well just means you can build one together, completely open source, amazing. 👍

Great hunt!
It is a really compacted phone and the price is unbelieveably cheap
I really love it
Thanks for the sharing

@g9g i think it would make for a very interesting experiment! :) 😎

It is a great opportunity to build a mobile phone for 50$. Open source is a good feature as well. Great Hunt mod @teamhumble . Congratulations.

@elleny yeah, let's hope i can hold onto no1 today 👍

Pros and Cons
Pros:
-Very cheap and affordable phone
-Opensource and very cool to carry around

Cons:
-if you drop it, you will have bad time piecing it back

@biuiam yeah if you drop it, you can basically forget about it! :) 👍

Wow, this is cool product brother.

Having an open-source product will be great. We can modify it like we want. I want Zerophone and i want to modify like I want.

Great hunt, brother

@azwarrangkuti thanks man, it's certainly a cool little device, bit like a burner phone in some regards 👍

Hi @teamhumble, "Zerophone" is Amazing Hunt.!

Your informations and updates about to build mobile phone on just 50$ open sourced smartphone based is really awesome. and yes its true:

A bit of spare time and effort, you too could own something like this and even build your own 3d printed box around it.

@rabeel yeah, i'd like to build one for sure 😀

Wow. this is amazing. With a simple cover to protect the phone(and make it looke better) it would be perfect.

@glory7 yeah i expect that someone will design one and share the 3d files for it. 🙏

Great hunt @teamhumble

With an open source smartphone you can create your own private phone. Ideal for those who want to develop a phone. The price is also very cheap.

@rtonline i could totally imagine making them for people for projects.

Cool phone to build for development testing purpose I should say. Because, it lacks the look and feel, that we try to find out in smart phones. And to add to that, portability will also be contributing factor, because you certainly need the phone with you to use Ola, Uber or other apps when you are out of home. Still, a good one, to play with when you are testing something.

@sanmi i think it can be used way past development, i can imagine it integrated into lots of projects -- of course it lacks the look and feel, it's $50 and comes without all the bloat they put on phones! :) -- portability will not be a factor because you can 3d print your own case! :) -- it's not a SMART phone, it's just a phone :) -- you can totally use this for SMS projects and calls! :) that's why it's $50 :) 👍

The shape of the phone is very cool. It is open sourced and it is very cheap. And you can build your own phone by yourself too.

@ray147880 yeah, it's kinda fantastic. i can see a lot of people wanting to own one! :) 👍

It been a while i came across your hunt and you knack for coolest product is virtually seen across you hunts and your hunt reviews and this another topnotch hunt. A 50$ DIY phone, the open source tech, make great for project development

yep, it's a cool little device for sure.

Looks so cool, really want to get hands on this, thank you very much for your hunt~

yeah, i love it. it opens up so many things!

Such a super crazy concept... building your own mobile phone, but i have to admit that is a cool concept that for sure will be embraced by a lot of teenagers and technology fans and it's really interesting to see more and more 3D printing items around (like the phone box in this case). Another great future of this hunt it's the price...

@georgemales i mean imagine it being integrated into more than just phones ya know? 😎

In the field of mobile phones, global big company such as Apple and Samsung dominate the market and sell mobile phones at high prices. Thus, the cost of communication for users is increasing day by day, making it a burden. I hope many developers will make many inexpensive and decent mobile phones using this open-source smartphone based on pi zero w.

@supergiant i don't see why not, the price will only fall 👍

Even I have mobile phone (likeecerybody) I would like to have a zerophone. I really would like to build it myself. Great hunt.

@erifek yeah especially at that price right? 👍

This can be quite creative. Build your own phone. It will be unique and special. And it is cheap.

Simply outstanding !!!!! Wow
We can build our very own cell phone by this open sourced project. I really agree with hunter if you haven't told me now I would be like are you crazy we can't make our very own phone with just 50$ this is great. Think of the unlimited possibilities there.
Amazing hunt!!!

yep yep and yep.

Woww.. wooww
@teamhumble bring a great hunt and absolutely this day will be number 1.

Amazing Hunt 🤩

Hi @teamhumble,
Here is my review about Zerophone

Pros:

  • Massive point about the Zerophone it is an open source
  • Woks with the modes of Linux power
  • It does not own any carrier locks, bloated apps, or data mining
  • Most importantly it really does not depend upon the companies to interrupt the users
  • Provides the highest level of privacy and ensures the level of control in the same way
  • Provides cent per cent check and balance and it can be taken as a parental control gadgetry fr their kids
  • Not costy at all

Cons:

Did not find any for it

Overall it is an amazing hunt, keep hunting @teamhumble :)

@salmanbukhari54 thanks for your great review! :)👍

It may not be the best-looking mobile phone out there, but for only $50 and the knowledge that it's actually your own creation, it's priceless! It could also be used to teach electronics and hardware to older kids. I love it.

@cryptocopy if you want looks you don't buy this, you buy a smartphone. if you wanna buy something that you can make unique for next to nothing -- you buy this! :) 😀

So true. It's the idea behind it that really matters. The real value I see behind this phone is its ability to teach electronics and interest older kids about STEM subjects.

@cryptocopy exactly that's the big plus! :) 😎

Wow, $50 for one DIY smartphone is definitely interesting! I think this is perfect for those who would love to assemble their own phone because it's just so cool and simply allow one to apply his or her creativity! Nice hunt!

First time i am looking at an open source phone with more self control. Indeed it would be great experience for those who are more into the techs of phones.

All I want to say is WOW for Zerophone. This makes having your own customized phone a child's play. Thanks for sharing @teamhumble.

@steemit.lover2 yeah think about it, you could literally leave a whole batch of them across a city and then put some cryptic clue inside about it when it rings etc, ring them all at the same time, it would be awesome 👍

Having control over your phobe so that you don't get the unwanted ads or your personal data sold to big companies for data intelligence or other purposes would be a great relief. Outstanding hunt @teamhumble!

well thank thee :)

A mobile phone in diy way for as low as $50? Seems too good to be true...Epic hunt @teamhumble.

Happy Hunting!

@asif.bokhari not this time, it's true.

Great product. Does it come in a flip design, too?

@normalbro no matey! this is the first version :) 👍

Very innovative idea. It is amazing what can be done today for pennies compared to what it use to be a decade or two ago.

@gattino you are totally right, incredible 👍

Nice hunt

@diaehamzawi thank you for the comments.
