Hunter's comment

I seriously can't believe I haven't hunted this before. I love Pyxel Edit.

I actually created a tutorial for it 7 months ago and used it to create the animation for my Killer Queen hunt.

I'm slowly trying to untangle myself from the Adobe Suite of products, my student license has finished and while I use Photoshop and Premiere Pro every day, I don't use the suite enough for the hefty Adobe price tag.

Pyxel Edit, though, is actually better than Photoshop for Pixel Art. It's much quicker to create a character and the animation is super easy to produce. I honestly love it.

There is a free version and a paid version of this software... but the paid version is $9. It's an incredible bargain, honestly. A new release in July cleaned up a lot of the previous issues.

Love Pyxel Edit!!

Thanks Mod!

@urbangladiator nice hunt bro. It's nice to have an expert on a product make a hunt for once. So many times we see hunts where the hunter really has no clue about the product.

Thanks man... although 'expert' is probably a bit strong.. it's software that I've definitely spent a lot of hours on. It's super fun and I'm now working on a project that lots of people can contribute to.

I will try out the free version first and the see the level of users friendliness before investing $9 into the paid version. Between, can you actually highlight the differences between the free and the paid version?

Great question. As far as I can tell... the key missing ingredient between the free first and the paid version is the animation tools... which for me personally is a deal breaker. I wouldn't have been able to make the little guy in the first image wave.

I love to make an artistic work and that software is just amazing for me to create an amazing art pixel. I would love to make editing photos in my style and that is perfect to use. Awesome

I love Canva before knowing this great Pixel ArtEditor. I already have enrolled numbers of Graphic Designing Courses on uDemy that how can you become a Pro Editor on Canva. But I think we can't create animation character in the free version there. So this would be the great choice if it works fine which seems to me..

Great Hunt. I appreciate you for showing your Tutorial and great software on this platform. Cool..

Thanks for your comment! I was literally just looking at Canva today, even though I had never heard of it before. I was trying to see if it was comparable... but again, I think you're right. You have to spend money if you want to animate your pixel art. I'm so glad you liked the tutorial... it took a long time but was super fun.

Canva is the most famous website where even a noob can create flawless designs for blogs. Both sites are great if you see them after Photoshop. :)

Adobe has become more like a BRAND than a product, that's new innovators and developers are coming up with something so simple and so workable.
Pyxel Edit sounds very much like one of them!
The best thing I like about the product is how light is it!
Just 18MB for Portable version (Win, 18mb). DAMN
Great hunt!!!

Thank you @mtimetraveller! I don't disagree with you about Adobe... but their products are incredible... and incredibly expensive. It all costs way too much just to dabble and have fun. I honestly can't get over how much functionality and fun is in this software considering how small it is.

looks cool but i never download or use it before what kind of extra features it has i mean did it also allow users to make logos, videos and GIFs or it's only for photo editing. Nice Hunt though

Yeah, I don't think this would be good for logos or videos at all... I think GIMP would be better for those. Pyxel Edit is purely for Pyxel Art, which is a very simple but very accessible art form. You don't need to be able to draw if you're patient with this tool.

A good alternative to Adobe, I don't really understand and explore image editing, but I know applications like InkScape and Gimp are free and open source.

But this Pyxel Edit looks different, even though they have to pay, they still provide a free version that is no longer supported by the development team. Cool hunt.

Thanks @iqbaladan. There's so much to learn in image editing, it's super overwhelming to be honest... Pyxel Edit is a little bit easier because it's so cut down, but I still find it difficult at times. Luckily there are a couple of YouTube videos that they've linked on their site that I've found super helpful.

I love Pixel Art! This tool looks like a very good software to become a pro in this type of graphics. I'm going to check it out and see if it's worth it. Thank you so much for sharing, this is a valuable hunt!

Thanks Eddie! It's $9 which is so so so so so much cheaper than Photoshop's $10 a month deal... and while obviously Photoshop can do 1 million more things, for Pixel Art, Pyxel Edit is actually quicker to use. There are a couple of short cuts that help you fly though.

Now I just wish I was more creative...

sad for the student license which has been finished pixyl edit will surely works in making games i think not sure but it looks as it will make it easy for game makers to make animations with this app .

good hunt Mod 😉 i 9$ is worth it i think no one will think it as burden on money 😉 many will be purchasing through steemit money hahaha 😂

Thanks @hassanabid! Yeah, the Adobe Suite is pretty amazing, but it's like $60 a month... which if you're not making money from it is really expensive. $9 as a once off cost is way more affordable... especially since it makes Pixel Art quicker. Thanks for your comment!

This software is pretty cool actually. It’s simple and easy to understand, makes editing a breeze and saves you money compare to similar products. I’m going to have to check out that tutorial you e created. Nice Hunt 😀😎👍

Thanks @yonny! I really appreciate your comment. Obviously Photoshop is a trillion times more complex than this tool, but purely for Pixel Art, this software is so much faster. I really enjoy using it.

Great hunt about pixel art. I was looking for such a site :D
Is the $9 price a monthly fee, or one-time cost of Pyxel Edit @urbangladiator ?

Hi Mona! Yes, it's a program that you download rather than a site. I've actually had this program for 2 years or so.. and only ever paid the $9 once... and the latest update automatically updated when I opened the program.

I was looking for such a software to do pixel art.I am having photoshop but i think this is incredible than that as it helps for pixel editing as well.
Actually there is a very good technology. thanks for sharing.... great hunting.
@urbangladiator

Hi @arvindkumar, I've definitely found Pyxel Edit much faster than Photoshop for Pixel Art... and because I do a few different things in Photoshop, I have to go and change all the settings and preferences... and sometimes I totally forget and can't work out why I'm not getting the exact results I expect in Photoshop.

Yes! You are correct. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate this software.

Such a very awesome and handy software who loves editing in animations. It does have ability to switch between various close shades of colors and i love it. Thanks for sharing @urbangladiator

Yes! That's actually the thing that I like the most... if you pick a colour, it offers the next lightest and darkest versions of that colour, so you can very easily provide shading and highlights on your pixel art. I really, really like that functionality!

oh that's fricking neat. upvoted!

@urbangladiator this is a cool hunt. You can download the free version and try out the pizel art editor first to see how it works. Once you like it, you can always upgrade it which is very convenient for me to try. I am going to try to create an animated character and see how it goes. Great hunt.
