Veil is launching today!
Veil is a peer-to-peer prediction market and derivatives platform built on top of Augur, 0x, and Ethereum.
So this is for crypto trading... but it's super sophisticated. It's built on top of Augur, which is a prediction market protocol on Ethereum... it's all based on smart contracts.
Prediction markets are crazy... it's pretty much very educated gambling. If you have done all your technical analysis, and are very sure that Steem is going to be $0.40 by the start of next month... you could set up a smart contract, and if someone else takes you up on it, you could make yourself some crypto.

I'm not always convinced all these financial tools are good for an industry... it all adds to the manipulation... but crypto really needs more functionality for adoption, so it all helps.

I use something like this to make predictions - cindicator, but i haven't seen what they offer to those wanting to use their predictions. I do think the ability yo place bets is nice. Kind of like two way bets in sports betting. All these tools are meant for crypto, if only crypto takes off. But as you said, building infra is important to get that adoption.

Really? It's honestly not something I've ever looked at... but yes, it's kind of a catch 22... crypto won't take off without a lot of infrastructure, but the infrastructure won't exist if people only build it once the mainstream starts to adopt it.
I honestly think that crypto won't really take off until there is some crazy amazing application that only crypto can do.

i think there's a few prediction based apps. and i agree. there has to be a genuine use case for greater adoption. with btc people need to understand that it does away with the fundamental nature of banking. everyone can be a custodian and that itself is huge. but people don't get that.
else there needs to be an app for a problem that crypto solves or something that isn't possible by conventional means.. like custody and trustless solution with btc.
