Hello there!
Your story is painful to me and I feel for you truly. It is the hardest thing to be let down by your parents - I know from my own experience. But we can survive and learn and now as a parent myself I make very sure to be the best I can. To be the best person I can. Our generation can only do our best to leave the next generation happier, healthier and better adjusted mentally.
Forgiveness is the other thing to master - I forgive both my mother and my father now but it has taken some years to reach this point.
