You might be asking why we need a to use a different image service, Steemit has an inbuilt image service but even then it is better to keep your images on a different server.
Steemit.com run on the Blockchain and it is often slow, unless there is a block submission your data will not be shared across the chain.
So Steemit.com images load slow and it takes a lot of load on the blockchain.
