I think we can safely say that there really is a community here... and a lot of people who give a damn about what happens to Steem. I know I can count myself as one of many who might have been skeptical when they first arrived here... and now am staying because of the community.

Of course, we're not in the clear yet... we really need to get you and the other witnesses in the next ten spots down vaulted up to the top of the list. And it's doable. Another drive to get all those who aren't paying as much attention "because they've already voted for 30 witnesses" to go through their vote lists and make sure they don't have any "old" votes from a year back that are for defunct/deactivated witnesses... that could be shifted to slots 28-37. Let's face it, if there's enough voting power to get one person to 170,000+MV, there's enough to get 20...

This is the first significant blockchain system I've interacted with. Sure I got a few Bitcoin from a fawcet years ago and have held them, but there's nothing else to Bitcoin.

This social aspect is obviously now ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to this whole system of delegated decision making. I don't see how any system that tries to self organise can do that without having the social means for coordinating within its own control. And I'm loving the community here more than any I've been in for a long time on the Internet all the way back to Usenet days!

It's just a pity we're still stuck using Discord for DMs and voice....

These exchanges are now pleading for a hard fork on Steem to lower the power down from 13 weeks to just a day or two so they can free those tokens for their customers.

They're better off powering down now and waiting. This stalemate could take much longer than 13 weeks. It's also far cheaper to simply powerdown now and wait 13 weeks.

I'm quite impressed with this community as well. It's not perfect but at least it dresses up for special occasions.

May I add that we are not out of the woods yet in regards to this fiasco..

We need another 10 of our own non-sockpuppet witnesses in the top 20 in order to ensure that Justin Sun cannot have his way with our blockchain as he did with the exchange collusion attack.

Good post Marky. I'm still here too, even if it has been a fucking shitshow since the Steemit Inc acquisition. Glad to still have you around.

From a drama perspective, I was hoping for a real Hollywood style twist, where there was a hardfork, the community splintered into two, half went with the community consensus witnesses, the other half went to tron-town.

Then, the consensus witnesses quietly gathered more and more "original" steem and came back and "attacked" the chain 6-12 months down the track. :P

I don't think that will happen. I listened to the recording of the townhall with Justin, Eli, Roy, and the other witnesses who attended, and there's a lot of ... legal stuff at stake for sure as far as Justin is considered, and I really wouldn't want to be Ned right now, lol.

Do we know anything further about Justin's stake being marked as non-voting at this stage?

It's a fascinating situation for sure. The voting is on as knife edge and a big player could swing it either way I assume there's not so much liquid Steem out there to buy right now. I bought some from another user to power up and persuaded others to use their votes.

Like it or not Justin is a major player in Steem now. I would hope that reasonable talks can find some compromise.

Thank you @themarkymark for still being here. You have been a FORCE in the Tron Discussions. I've listened fully to them all. Keep up the FIGHT. I am behind and OUR Witnesses and OUR Community. I only had 9 witnesses before this (including you). I have filled the 30 spots with Our Witnesses.
Usually, I'm sort incognito, but I'm coming out for the fight. Cheers, you've got many in the fight with you. That's how we took back the witness spots and that's how we will win this.

Let's just hope these votes for witnesses are not sock puppet accounts? Heaven forbid the community would stoop to the very same tactics they're accusing the 'other side' of doing and the very reason control of the Blockchain is being fought over.

P.S. I'm one of the moaners about poor returns on content, unfair distribution of rewards and Social Media Celebrities joining Steemit just to milk it. You must have read my latest post? Bwahahaha

This has been an amazing rollercoaster to watch. I cannot say that I've been on it, per se. It does, however, show the power of community - even in cyberspace. I admit I was one of those who removed votes from the witnesses that had implemented the soft fork. With hindsight, I'm sorry I did. Votes reinstated and re-allocated - I hope strategically.

The audio of that meeting was very enlightening and I tend to agree that this - whatever it is - is not over. I do hope, though, that one of the lessons learned is that little fish pay more attention to the role of witnesses, who they are, what they do and why.

Thanks for all you do for the Steemit blockchain.

Oh, and if I'm harangued (again) for making a positive comment on one of your posts, I'll take it.

Agreed, I think it's shows how the community is strong and for true decentralization. Ive noticed how things have changed to keep it ours and I'm full on in support of the community as you can see. Tho I dont agree with everyone all the time we can agree on this. And I am ready for the hardfork so we can chill on the new chain and move on. Crypto history is being made here. Big names helping supporting and watching to see the out come. Cuz now we need the DeLorean to go back to the future to fix this. Its a done deal I say,this ride will be fun either way. Lets stay strong and not delay, cuz we are here to stay its our chain. BE WELL
