What is the difference between teachers and prison guards? There is a difference in salary and job security for the future. You can argue about the risks involved and hours put in each week.
We can also talk about prison conditions and that varies by state and country as well as the conditions of the public school buildings.
The biggest factor I see is that prisoners in elementary school get to walk outside and are responsible for finding their own dinner and lodging in the evening.
Some fortunate kids come to school bright and well rested. Others did not have that privilege but went through a night of domestic violence, cold and hunger.
I look at the kids in the morning and wonder what made them the zombies they are. Sure for some it was a night of Battle Ground but for the quiet ones I’m not sure what went on before they walked into the door.
Something I think about every morning when I meet students in the hall at 9am.
Hello appreciated @mineopoly.
Quite controversial your approach. Very crude indeed. But it does not stop being very close to reality.
This is true.
There is a country where prisons are pigsties where people are stored. Life is played every moment. They must pay the delinquents there, to have a choice to a piece of dirty ground to sleep on. In the same way there are also countries where public schools do not meet the basic conditions for the development of children. Precarious desks must be shared, physical facilities that do not meet safety standards.
Even though you went to the extremes with your comparison (Masters vs Guards) it does not stop being close to a sad and worrying reality.
All best, Piotr.

Thank you very much for your comment,
Your kind comments always remind me that you are more than @crypto.piotr but you are a compassionate father and a man who faces struggles in a different culture everyday. I wish teachers in Korea were given the respect they used to have but now it really has to be earned. It is not just given.

I always enjoy reading such a positive comments as yours @mineopoly
Seriously. You managed to put a huge banana smile on my face :) THX BIG TIME.
How does it work now with respect towards teachers?
ps.
Allow me to encourage you to visit my latest post (my last one in 2018). Together with few friends we decided to organize small charity event "Santa Venezuela" and hopefully we can count on your help. There are many ways of helping our venture :)
Yours
Piotr

Thanks for reading. For some odd reason all my classes turned out beautiful today. Maybe because it is the Friday before Christmas. Today teachers are not allowed to touch students or even raise our voice. Korea got rid of physical punishments a couple years ago, but there is no real system in line to discipline students from disturbing other students in class. Change is not always progress.

you're beaten. you're not allowed to go outside. you have to bow to the guards. you must walk in lines, eat rice and kimchi, and wear a uniform. you do that from birth till you're 18, then you are forced into the military which is exactly the same shit with weapons. after you're done, you work for corporations that do exactly the same.
i'd even argue that prison might be a better place.
btw i love what you're doing recently :) uploading everyday. tho i don't have the power to upvote everyday i'm enjoying these

Take your time @roundbeargames,
I don't care if it says 10 cents or 10 dollars. It is all relative. Your comment is a post in itself. Since 2011 things have changed in schools here outwardly but there is really nothing to stop the indoctrination that goes on. Ha! Ha! I said that.
I will call you in a minute.
Oh. There is more interaction on my posts this way even though it is just random stuff.

To me, being able to attend school is a privilege. In fact I like school much more so than work/corporate. I don't understand why some children hate school so much. After school, I have librarian duties, volunteer with visually impaired students or Taekwondo training. Then, when I got home, there were warm meals waiting for me. Life was good! Corporate was terrible. Endless reporting and politics. They sucked the life out of me.

That is the right attitude @wittywheat,
You are really special. Part of it is the attitude we as parents portray to our children if we drudge through work to get a salary then our kids learn from our example. If we are engaged as work as if in play then our kids are engaged in school. Well it doesn't always work like this. Some kids were just grumpy we had school the same week as Christmas.
Thanks for your insight. My stomach turns even hearing the word corporate. Stay healthy ♡
