One of my first post I wrote was about how all the posts getting to the front page and making all the money were steemit meta posts. Talking about how to succeed on steemit, tips and tricks, as well as little guides for newcomers. This was most likely due to the fact that there were a lot of new steemit members in the last week or so, trying to learn about the platform and upvoting and supporting those posts that helped them. Well now many of those new people have figured out how steemit works and now want to discuss and explore things they are interested in, art, travel, crypto, ect. These are the posts that will now make it to the front page. It's not that there won't be another large influx of users at some point, it's just for now people are tired and bored about discussion steemit on steemit...

So if you want to strike big and want a post of your's to make it to the front page, then consider writing about a topic you are interested or will interest other steemit users.
