Nuts are a fabulous source of healthy fat and can be incredibly good for you.
Obviously, there are some people who have serious nut allergies, and so they really need to avoid nuts at all costs.
But for the majority of people this is not the case and they can benefit hugely by introducing more of them into their normal diet.
On top of all the healthy mono-unsaturated fats and omega-3 and omega-6 fat content, they also generally contain lots of vitamins, antioxidants and minerals and have even been found to help reduce obesity, heart conditions and type 2 diabetes!
Some of my favorite nuts include walnuts, almonds, pistachios and macadamia nuts – but there are tons more for you to try out and see which ones you prefer.
P.S. Peanuts are technically a legume but often considered to be a nut as they have many of the good properties of nuts!
As always do try and source your foods locally and if available try and make sure they are an un-processed as possible, GMO free and organic! It might cost a little more but you will be really helping your community in the long run, as well as seriously improving your long term health prospects.
