Successful modification of nucleic acid in human embryos

in steemit-health •  7 years ago

US and South Korean scientists have, for the first time, cleared human embryos from a portion of DNA that causes the inheritance of a fatal heart disease.

This achievement opens the door to the possibility of preventing the inheritance of tens of thousands of diseases from generation to generation.

The embryo research team allowed for development for five days before stopping their experiment.

The study by these scientists points to the future course of medicine in general, but also raises concerns about the ethics of this research.
