Thailand's new king led a spectacular £70million procession of his father's ashes through the streets of Bangkok

King Maha Vajiralongkorn,65, the son of the former sovereign, performed the service at the three-tiered crematorium, which represents Mount Meru, the centre of the Hindu and Buddhist universe where it is believed Thai royals return after death. He led a procession of the ashes through the streets of Bangkok as part of an elaborate five-day funeral that drew hundreds of thousands of black-clad mourners to the city's historic old quarter. King Bhumibol was the world's longest-reigning monarch when he died a year ago aged 88.
The government has set aside £70million for the lavish funeral in Bangkok. In Thailand it is a crime to criticise the monarchy.

This truly shows how much Thai people loved and respected their king.

I've been to Bangkok recently and it was truly visable how people respected and loved their king! They were all wearing black and truly mouring. I was amazed with that! Never have I ever seen something similar nowhere in the world
