Delegating Steem Power out for free? What the F! Words from someone who is either stupid, or just cares for Steem/Steemit.

Delegating to the engaged

For me, comments(replies) are the grease that oils the Blockchain here on Steemit. Without them, no matter how epic the post is, things would look pretty sad.

In fact, many high earning posts look pretty sad. Reasons for lack of engagement in the replies could be down to a few things:

  • A shit post
  • An author that frequently doesn't respond to comments
  • Post is so good that words can't describe

Of course there are many low earning posts without much engagement, but the reasons for that would also include:

  • Lack of exposure

Anyway, back to delegation and my question in the title of the post.

For months now, I've been following a trend, i'll even say a growing trend just to fluff it up a bit - I don't know if it's growing, but there are a few people around who have been or are currently, delegating their Steem Power to other users for $0 - Free - Nothing at all.

Here are a few of these people off the top of my head. If you are someone delegating SP for nothing and reading this post, let me know so I can add you to my awesome people list.

@stellabelle, @steevec, @fulltimegeek, @paulag, @tarazkp, @techslut, @wwf, @carlgnash, @cheneats, @coolguy123, @cranium, @crimsonclad, @drakos, @flauwy, @goldendawne, @hendrix22, @hitmeasap, @howtostartablog, @inquiringtimes, @kubbyelizabeth, @lyndsaybowes, @old-guy-photos, @skycae, @taskmaster4450, @karensuestudios, @aggroed, @simplymike ...

I choose to delegate my Steem Power to people who are engaging here on Steemit. A weekly league, which is open to all is produced with some not so secret metrics, and the top places/most in need of a boost, recieve a little delegated Steem Power.

Names on the list above may have chosen to review this list or not, it doesn't really matter - they are delegating their Steem Power out for absolutely nothing.

So I guess my question is better put: Are we stupid?

Delegating to Bid-bots

In light of the well advertised recent delegation by a mega-whale @thejohalfiles to one of the newer Bid-bots, @smartsteem, I thought I'd have a look at what this delgation means financially to this account, and what this could do for me too.

In brief, it's possible to delegate your Steem Power to a 'Bid-bot', which will then pay you interest on this amount (daily in most cases), which varies depending on how much the Bot takes each day. If you haven't looked, they take a lot - meaning, the 'Bidding rounds' are almost always full, and not just that, they are usually oversubscribed. In short, they are making a $hiteload of SBD/STEEM, and can afford to pay their delegates handsomely.

This is the calculation estimate for @thejohalfiles:

No, you didn't read it wrong, it does actually say 1060 SBD a day

Is it any surprise that he's sacked off the day job for a passive daily income of $3776?

So what does that calculation look like to me?

Daily: 8.9 SBD / $31.6
Weekly: 62.3 / $221.8
Monthly: 267.1 / $950.9

(1 SBD = $3.56 at time of writing)

Almost $1000 a month, for doing absolutely nothing. Wow.

Instead though, I'm paying for 4000 delegated Steem Power (at a really good rate of 40 STEEM a month), and delegating almost all of it out, for nothing. On top of that:

Oops. Duh?!

My curation rewards (the other income option for your Steem Power) are looking like they will be 10-15 Steem Power (not SBD) a week, (which is vested STEEM) and a little lower than the price of SBD at present, so let's take the highest value and calculate what this return is for a month:

15 x 4 x $3.47 = $208

A bit of a mismatch there?

Again, you can't blame some accounts for switching to this income stream - it's almost 500% more lucrative in my case.

Now, you may be wondering where I'm going with this, and I do want an honest answer to the post title, but I would like to say first:

Short term pain, long term gain

I'll continue delegating my Steem Power and continue to give more of it out to those that are here greasing the chain, making me laugh, producing work that is worth sharing, commenting, and encouraging people to do the best they can.

I don't ask for a vote from these accounts, I just ask them to contribute to a making this place better.

Nope, I'm not stupid, I just give a shit about Steemit.

Thanks Asher! That was pretty Awesome.

Thank you.

I tried to be open and honest and make clear that i'm here first to make this place work, over the money - I'm hoping that will come later when we've got a flourishing platform :)

Why not both? Stupid and caring. :)

Those asking how to get a delegation? Simple:

  1. Shine in Asher's curation guild.
  2. Create quality content.
  3. Comment at least 10 insightful comments for every post.
  4. BE KIND

That's all. I've never asked for upvotes or my fat delegation (which I got from a "stupid" whale who rather not be tagged). I don't use bidbots at all, and if I really want the extra promotion, I use minnowbooster. I try to be kind and nice to anyone who contacts me - I help with advice and answers, and those I feel have the potential to flourish on the platform - get some extra loving from me.

Since I live off a fat free delegation myself, I think it is my duty to pass around that love. So most of my natural SP is delegated out to new users (steeminvite, why you no work again?!), promising bloggers and local Israeli newbies who need the bandwidth.

Also, I like to consider myself Chief Emergency SP Injector in cases of low bandwidth for at least 3 groups - @teamgirlpowa @steemsugars and @isleofwrite . I get tagged in general, and whoever needs the 20 SP to get through their first few weeks - I am happy to give it.

(Self upvoted for visibility)

and we thank you nit just for sp help but flagging and just plsin arguing skillfully on our behalf!!!! #techslutfan4life

<3

I am just being me. It's all I know how to do.

Shine in Asher's curation guild.
Create quality content.
Comment at least 10 insightful comments for every post.
BE KIND

To everyone who is asking how to be successful in Steemit this pretty much sums it up. Short, Sweet and simple even stupid like me gets it.

I have been a recepient of some of the upvotes that you give out and I feel motivated to write more and connect more to people.

Each time I get upvoted is one more chance for me to pay-it-forward and upvote someone else and inspire them to keep Steemining no matter how hard things are at times.

Awesome :)

You really do some awesome work and I'm glad you boosted yourself to the top with this comment!

Stupid and caring, awww, that does sound like me!

Continue being ace, thank you!

I want to live in a world ruled by the stupid and caring, rather than one run by the smart and indifferent.

Yes!

I wonder if we'll ever make it back onto league 1 again - got delegations coming out of my ears now!

Oh I've given up a while ago. How many is it now? 18? 20?

So many fans. @limabeing, are you opening a fan club?

and yea, you're awesome Ilana, I have a question tho, what's Asher's curation guild?

hi @techslut - I'm new on Steemit - and rather new in Israel, too :) What do you mean by "Comment at least 10 insightful comments for every post." Do you mean for every post you make daily, you should at least give ten comments on other posts?

That is correct. Commenting on posts by other authors with similar interests is how you get followers. I have over 2600 because I comment a lot more than a post.

Well I appreciate your generosity and 'keeping the faith'... and I'm sticking with this 'engagement' thing myself for the time being (work and VP permitting).

Although just to put this out there.... I think all of us community minded folks need to be ready to jump ship if (1) the algorithms which incentivise self-interest over engagement don't change and (2) a similar platform with more socially aligned algorithms emerges.

While it is possible to earn a decent (second) income while engaging on here with minimum investment, it is not good for the soul to be doing so amidst such selfish carnage of the ecosystem.

This is still all a bit of a test, after all... and let's remember, in five years time, steemit probably won't be the only established blockchain based social media platform, and if this place doesn't change there may be somewhere more aligned with our values to which we can all flee.

I don't buy the argument that we need selfish rich people to make this place work. I've taught sociology way too long to know that's just utter nonsense - those are precisely the kind of people we need to keep on a leash if we want a sustainable future.

So keep the faith, try and make it work on here, but let's remember, we can just all leave if something better comes along: Pilgrim Fathers n all, or maybe that's a bad analogy....?

Of course that may all be wishful thinking, it would be painful, and a massive act of co-ordination, but it may be necessary. Also, just stating it as a possibility may make @ned actually listen to the voices wanting some kind of algorithmic limit to abuse.

Karl.

P.S. three edits, but without changing the essence of the comment. I'm sure there's a correlation between 'degree of rantiness' and 'number of typos.'

Great stuff Karl, thank you for this well written response!

I think all of us community minded folks need to be ready to jump ship if (1) the algorithms which incentivise self-interest over engagement don't change and (2) a similar platform with more socially aligned algorithms emerges.

I know what you mean, and the likely destination dont worry :)

And I hope that the changes in the next fork take place. I see one of them as a positive for curation rewards, which involves the author receiving no curation if they vote within 15 minutes. It could end up as a battle for that 15 minute position, but could still work out a bit better than at present.

This is still all a bit of a test, after all... and let's remember, in five years time, steemit probably won't be the only established blockchain based social media platform, and if this place doesn't change there may be somewhere more aligned with our values to which we can all flee.

Yes this is very true, and indeed the vision of @ned hearing him talk at Steemfest. I received a comment on discord today which was a little tongue in cheek, but suggested that the UI here was left alone (requiring changes) in the hope that something better would be developed to serve the purpose of blogging/content creation on the Steem Blockchain :)

Anyway, we shall continue on doing what we think is right, and if we end up with nothing for it, at least we tried.

Cheers!

Thanks for the updates!

Don't burn yourself out responding to people.

I reckon you've earned the right to a couple of days off and a couple of meme posts!

Ha!

Yes It's been hardcore the last few days, my own 'fault' I guess.

Perhaps I'll drop a meme in soon, although I use @zapncrap for 'topical' meme's when they spring to mind.

Thanks for the advice, heeded!

Good choice of name.

Hey @abh12345,

Delegating to support other users is an honorable and great thing to do. We all have our share of responsibility to improve the overall health of the blockchain and its ecosystem.

Delegating to SmartSteem is profitable yes - but that isn't a bad thing. We've shown we make it our number one priority to reward and empower good content and actively work on reducing abuse via whitelisting and blacklisting.

@thejohalfiles, is a very active steemian who has been curating manually for the past 2 years and is now looking for ways to reward quality-content through delegations while still making some profit of his Steempower.

He also delegates to @utopian-io and is interested in platforms such as @dlive and @dtube, so we not only trust he has the best interests of the community at heart but also feel flattered that he sees the same value on our service and trusts us to keep up our standards.

If you have any worries whatsoever, we're always available to have a chat!

Hey @therealwolf

I didn't mean for the post to be a personal attack on @smartsteem or @thejohalfiles, you are just the latest high profile delegation case and the most obvious example to use.

I have respect for @smartsteem in being the first Bid-bot to produce a white list, and as you know I have bought votes from you quite frequently recently.

However, if every account delegated to a bidbot, what would Steemit look like? The only posts receiving votes would be those where the author had paid to promote the content. Is this what we want? Surely not!?

A delegation to @utopian-io is something I have in place myself. There, each post is moderated prior to receiving the same sized vote as every other post in that category, this gives the best posts in that category a chance to shine.

They are one of the reasons I still support HF17/19s delegated SP introduction, applications like utopian-io and dtube would really struggle otherwise.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to comment here. You don't get an upvote today though as you've already topped my blog with your own vote! That is the 2nd time this week someone has done that and I must say that it's not my favourite thing in the world! However,
As you are mentioned in the post,
It's fair that your side is visible.

Cheers!

Hey @abh12345,

first of - I didn't upvote myself for the rewards but to make a statement since you mentioned smartsteem in your post and I believe that the response is important enough that it shouldn't be buried under all the other ones.

Now - I also don't take it as an attack, it's just that you made clear that you're not a fan of delegating for profit. Which I can understand - but I don't believe that his is any significant risk to STEEM as plattform for content.

The far bigger risk are big stackholders who are upvoting each other in circles.

Upvote-Services on the other hand, give everyone the chance to also get visibility.

Also - smartsteem.com is NOT just another bid-bot, but a whole plattform with the goal of empowering quality content.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

I understand it was not for profit.

The far bigger risk are big stakeholders who are upvoting each other in circles.

Sadly this cannot be stopped, its 'proof of stake' here and we cannot help with this.

Upvote-Services on the other hand, give everyone the chance to also get visibility.

You need money for bid-bots, not everyone has this. And so it is the case that good posts (30-60$), are not as high up in the hot/trending as the ones voted by the creator, that do not not match this quality.

I would still like your views on what you think Steemit would look like if everyone chose to delegate to a bid-bot.

Personally, I think it would be a case of the richest person wins, and hope that's not what you wish for this platform.

Big props to you guys for implementing white list and I hope in the future the service goes white list exclusive for the vote selling side. I want to note I flagged your comment solely so that another comment from @techslut which I feel is some amazingly succinct advice for Steem beginners rose to the top here - not my intention to get into a flag war. Hopefully no hard feelings. I am curious though - you don't think that further increasing the wealth inequality on platform (which vote selling services that purchase SP delegation from whales cannot help but doing - they funnel funds from minnows up into the pockets of the biggest whales) is bad for Steem? I personally feel it is the single biggest issue facing Steem today. Welcome respectful debate.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

FLAG WAARRR!

Yeah, not a chance. I've stuff to do.

But allow me to give my 0.05 SBD on the topic of vote buying.

I am not a fan of it. At all. But it's there, and it will continue to be there. Disclaimer: I work with Buildteam, who run minnowbooster.

There is a lot of room for improving the way vote buying bots work. Yes, whitelisting and a strict anti-abuse policy are a good start, but it's not enough. As long as the system permits it, delegations will be leased and votes will be sold. I don't think it's the biggest issue. There are numerous ones. Power centralization is, without a doubt, a bigger problem. With better power distribution between the users of the platform, there simple would be no demand for vote buying services.

@carlgnash

want to note I flagged your comment solely so that another comment from @techslut which I feel is some amazingly succinct advice for Steem beginners rose to the top here - not my intention to get into a flag war.

I understand.

they funnel funds from minnows up into the pockets of the biggest whales) is bad for Steem?

I don't believe in funnelings rewards from minnows to whales - since many of the sellers are actually minnows.

However, it is true that people with more power, get more rewards.

In the real world and also here on STEEM.

When someone gets so greedy that they only want for themselves even though they already have so much - then that is indeed not good.

But let's take me as an example.

I'm currently selling votes and upvoting other posts on a 50/50 basis - at least that's what I think; haven't made any calculations yet.

And I don't see any problems with that. I like to give, but I also see the importance of growing my own Steempower as only then I can be free to give to others.

So it’s more lucrative to delegate to a voting bot then curating? If that’s the case it moves Steemit in a direction that makes it even harder for new accounts to gain traction. It’s amazing that the voting bots consistently book up and overbook when the results are clearly to the benefit of the bot and not the author. Thanks for the post!

Much more lucrative.

But then all we'll have is self-voted, bought posts and the rest somewhere in the blockchain, requiring a good search party!

The difference between those who live on the old banker usury rules vs those who choose to live with prosperity, gifting and love. It is our duty to help others be prosperous. I have no need for my steem right now, so why not let others use it. Besides, my own growth as an author comes from others who vote for me. The Stewards of Terra Mater tend to upvote a lot of my posts and they pay it forward as well. Win / win as far as I'm concerned. Besides, all the steem is gifted. So support the gifting economy by giving!!!

It is our duty to help others be prosperous.

Certainly, and i'm sure you don't mean in relation to just financial wealth.

Yes I left a small not in the post stating I don't ask for votes from delegates, although most of them drop by often - it really is a win/win if you set your stall out right.

As you say, we are in a gift economy, lets make it happen!

I find that if we just focus on the financial then we will always be dependent on the financial. However, if we teach and support one another to be independent, then we don't need the financial system. That is prosperity!

Feed a man a fish, feed him for a day. The financial, economic and government systems function on this principle.

Teach a man how to fish, you feed him for a life time. The gifting economy that we are learning how to build here functions on that level! At least that is what I speak about very often!

You are correct my friend and dear brother. Bravo

I missed a reply to this comment amongst the flurry of other responses, my aplogies.

Yes you are quite right, and this is why I too mention delegation and engagement often.

This is our chance to promote the gift economy and the 'right' way to Steemit, we are doing our bit :)

Thank you for all your comments this evening, a pleasure to interact as always.

There are those who sell off what little influence they have in this world for whatever the market will bare for short term profits. Then there are those who use their influence to shape the world around them looking to make long term gains.

It’s a bit silly trying making a few percentage of an ROI from dividends when your total value drops by 50% in a month and thinking you are getting ahead in life. They could have been trying shape and make it worthwhile peoples times who could take Steem to $100, or even $1000+ one day. Kind of hard to see those thing coming true with hard working and people who do make a chance here get pissed off and give up because they are not willing to spend insane amounts of money just to get any attention.

Which is why I’m thankful for people who want to play the long term game of focusing on area they want to see better on Steemit. When people come here form YouTube and other places they notice our comment sections are not a dumpster fire trying drag you down with it. It's a place for community to grow like it should be.

Thank you @enjar

Some great points.

I think we have years to go yet on this Blockchain, and it's my child's future I'm looking at as much as anything. 1-2-5 years is short term, 10-20 now we are talking!

Thanks gain for your comments, i'm sorry mine are short - it's been a busy week in the replies for me!

Ahh yes this is why I delegate SP! I just love the platform, I figure it will return in some way in the end. Really, I just love helping people to and giving them joy, and I can now give easily without losing really anything at all. The ability to give is what I love the most haha.

Brilliant :)

I feel the same - it's a little out of hope more than judgement, but that's fine when I receive a bunch of supporting comments and know others are doing the same.

Good luck to you, and well done for taking this road less travelled with me :)

I am indeed a pathfinder, literally and figuratively :P

Awesome explanation Asher! Its so great to walk through the numbers and see what we all know to be true.

The answer to your question is it depends on your purpose of being here. You are stupid if you think this platform is going to be just another failed experiment that ends up like Myspace. If that's the case, taking the money and running is the solution.

But if you believe this is the place that will eventually surpass the corporate driven likes of facebook, youtube, and instagram; then you are not stupid but brilliant. The funny thing people should be asking themselves is "why am I here?".

If it is to make a quick buck, then you are wasting your time. There is no way to live off the scraps that we get right now with STEEM so high in price.

If it is to spend your time and invest your efforts into building a community, then you will be not stupid, but a hero if the people at the top ever figure it out.

They need you (and your awesome followers), they just haven't realized yet how important you and your fellow delegators (for free) are yet.

In my opinion, they will learn when the "hot money" comes out of the crypto space. I think it will happen someday soon too. Then they will realize that they may "lose it all" if they don't figure out how to take care of the little guys too.

ps... You can add @simplymike to your list with a nice 100SP delegation to @friendsofgondor!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Thanks Dave

I shall add @simplymike to the list right away...

OK, that's done. Thanks for the tagline comp. by the way, hope we see some action there!

The numbers help show I guess what a sacrifice it is. As you know, I don't ask for votes, and if the delegatee thinks my post isn't worth a vote, I don't expect one just because!

Building communities is the key, building people up around you as we've spoken about before - setting as many people free as possible, together - I hear it's a lonely place alone.

Thank you for continually wafting my name in front of the big players, maybe when the SBD price resets, they may come looking for the curation approach again.

Thank you for all you do, a flying start you've had and carrying many newbies along too!

Awesome on adding @simplymike!

And you're welcome on the tagline competition and I'm sure we will see some good action ;). I don't think I was clear though in my post because we also have a logo contest too with @beeyou, if you haven't seen it (Click here)

I agree with you completely about building communities and I am so glad that you opened up your community to us. We are starting to blend together in so many ways and I think the bonds get stronger by the day!

Yes the price of STEEM and SBD are the keys that will change the way of thinking (imho). Right now it is something they are not worried about, but when the reset comes they will learn how valuable you and your ideas really are. The people we work with should stay patient and just keep doing what they do best which is engagement! It will pay off big if certain things go right!

You're welcome of course, but its the least we can do for you. You have welcomed us with open arms and given a lift to so many! I'm glad we can all work together! :)

Earlier today, I read this post by @spiritualmax on how free delegations are still a little bit selfish. It was an interesting read.
Top 3 Selfish Reasons to Delegate: Help Someone, Help Yourself!

Yay @simplymike! That is generous of you to delegate SP to the @friendsofgondor account.

You know, I see a lot of paying it forward gestures with our newbieresteemday members. Not that I'm bragging or anything..... Ok, just a bit. :)

Its ok to brag on your teammates, that's what cheerleaders do!!! ;) and check out @simplymike's cheer above ... :)

I will go read it... I like @spiritualmax and he has a killer idea about bringing all the open groups together and joining together loosely. We have joined that now and have traded rooms (or embasseys as he calls them) in each other's servers. Someone suggested you to be our "official" ambassador to the Crypto Empire, I think that is a great idea if you would be interested! (I was waiting for you to recover before I thrust you into something new) ;) ...

If you want to check it out and talk with @spiritualmax about it, I'm sure he would love to talk with you!!! Here is the link if you want to stop in and bless them with your presence! ;)

and here's a newbie nickel just because you are back and I'm so happy about it! (brought to you be @danielasori) ... ps I will limit it to 3 on a post this blog so I don't hog up too much space, so you along with the killers Bs get it tonight (@bashadow and @beeyou)...

Congratulations, this newbie nickel is sponsored by #steemitcommentchallenge this week!

#newbieresteemday highly recommends this sponsor!

Thanks @davemccoy.
I noticed he had reached out for the #newbieresteemday initiative, and already took a peek at his fort on Discord yesterday.
I’m flattered by the idea that someone suggested I could become the ‘ambassador’, but it’s way too soon for me to commit to something. I have at least 1,5 month of recovery ahead and during this time I can not be sure I’ll be able to drop in on a regular base.
I’m sure there are quite a number of other people that would gladly take up this role. Meanwhile, I’m satisfied with my role as a cheerleader ;0)

8DAE423D-827A-4E64-B56D-A1AE6505DD0A.gif

haha... very fun @simplymike!!! I understand and want you to do what you do best! :D (btw you are a fantastic cheerleader too!!!) ;)

I'll hold off on making you our ambassador, but I want you to know that in my eyes you can have any title you want. So in the future just say the words and you can be whatever you want!

I hope you continue with your recovery, I love seeing you out here and doing such positive things! You're amazing!!!

Thanks @davemccoy. You always manage to stun me with your kind words, which makes me wonder how to reply - lol.
Keep up doing what you’re doing, ‘cos you’re doing an amazing job :0)
P.s.: I’ll keep it in mind, thanks!

Same back at ya! I see things you do and I'm truly amazed!

If it is to spend your time and invest your efforts into building a community, then you will be not stupid, but a hero if the people at the top ever figure it out.

And this is why we are here. We are trying to make a difference and make Steemit the best platform for content and engagement!

Exactly Mav! We may each have different ideas about how to do it, but we have much more in common with each other than not. That's why I love waking up every day! Its a chance to make a difference (what more can we ask for?)

True it's a chance to become better version of ourselves each day.
I'm excited to help you out and be part of the people who make Steemit such a great place

I also know of others that make free delegations for the purpose(s) of spreading the rewards more broadly into the Steempool, encouraging particular creators, and more besides. I'll not name names as @aggroed (oops!) and others are competent to blow their own horns, should they want to.

I know that @aggroed has mentioned his delegations elsewhere, so I reckon I'm not revealing secrets in his case, while others may be less interested in having their trumpets sounded.

I have long and strongly approved of these kinds of delegations as being most potential to more broadly disseminate SP to worthy minnows whose success will put upwards pressure on Steem, creating a rising tide that floats all wallets.

While profitability of bidbots seems a slamdunk, at least for the short term, ignoring the long term effects of controlling the rewards pool for the purpose of profiteering, on a social media platform originally intended to reward quality content and human interaction, neglects the long term profit potential of rising Steem price. That is a far more emunerative potential for investors, as BTC showed this past year.

Thanks for proving my point that it's neither foolish to support folks that support the price of Steem from a financial standpoint, nor to strengthen the community we all love!

How could I forget @aggroed, thanks for the reminder there!

I'm just going to copy this paragraph out as it's an absolute winner and I certainly didn't say it better myself!

While profitability of bidbots seems a slamdunk, at least for the short term, ignoring the long term effects of controlling the rewards pool for the purpose of profiteering, on a social media platform originally intended to reward quality content and human interaction, neglects the long term profit potential of rising Steem price.

At times during the writing of the post I thought about doing something else as I felt quite hypocritical. As you know I've been a fairly regular user of Bots, and even delegated small amounts to @aggroed's bots in the past. Around the start of the year I contacted him stating I was cancelling the lease, and of course he had no issue - 'It's your Steem Power!' Cool.

My view is that they are here for a while longer yet, and come as part of the package as far as delegating to the projects currently advancing the Blockchain.

However, they are abused with huge votes (my biggest was the other day and was to promote the awesome people who were listed, actually producing more comments than the vote-bots for 2018 thus far. The post had hit 50 replies before I chose to do this - the submission wasn't coordinated with the timing of a voting round, like so many do. These post looks rushed because they are - got to finish it before 'appreciator' voting round finishes!

They aren't going anywhere for now, but their longevity could perhaps be shortened it they weren't fueled by SP and this off-pegged SBD price.

It was a shame to see another whale, particular a manual curator, join the club but I don't blame him looking at the returns.

Anyway, I shall continue leasing more SP out as I earn it, as I did again today and hope for the best!

Thank you!

I have long been impressed with @thejohalfiles manual curation, in an environment that certainly must exert a strong suction on his stake towards more potentially immediately profitable endeavors.

I realized early on that prudent investors need to mind their stakes, and cannot find fault that they do so. I just consider the potential returns from an appreciating Steem to so outweigh any that can be wrested from delegation fees or bot payments that it seems utterly short sighted to fail to coordinate as a group (the whales) and undertake delegations (as @fulltimegeek showed work very well to encourage the delegates, and those they engage with) which will improve account retention, and uplift Steem price.

I do not criticize your choices. You make them as you will. I hope my meta-discussion of the issue doesn't make you feel that I do.

Were that my intent, I am sure you have noted that I can speak plainly =p

Yes I agree, it is their stake and so the choice is theirs only. As far as encouragement and engagement, only one winner though!

Yes I understand, and have read elsewhere in the past, words are not there to be minced at times :) I think I remember you up-voting the self-goat 'bot' that follows a minnowbooster vote one time, and so that's why I'm on my toes :)

posts like this are why I think you're so amazing @abh12345 !! You have the biggest heart and are "stupid" enough to show it! I'm forever grateful for your "stupid" choice to give me a delegation!! <3

If sharing with people in need, promoting hard working individuals and helping Steemit grow into a platform where we can ALL thrive is stupid - well count me in!

giphy (2).gif

Thanks for this post @abh12345.

Asher, you arent stupid....you get it.

I just wrote a post, so it is fresh in my mind, about what you describe.

You get it man....you really do.

It isnt about scarcity, ROI, and any of that garbage. We are entering the Age of Abundance. In my post I talk about evolving towards 5D consciousness....that is what this action you undertook is...5D....

It is done out of love. Your belief system, which still has ties to 3D consciousness, causes to you to question...are you missing out? Should you do it for a return? You have the figures to back it up so it is a valid thing to look at.

Let me ask you, $100 STEEM...does it matter then? $10K STEEM? $100K STEEM? Where is the cap on STEEM?

It is no longer about amassing all I can for the sake of having more than anyone else. It is about how to spread the love. We have the ability to show an entirely new belief system....and lay a foundation away from the bankster run world of scarcity.

As SP holders, we know if three tokens already announced that will be airdropped to us...that is free money. The Internet came to money and it creates abundance. It is up to us here now who understand that to show others the way.

This is much more than a social networking site...it is a mirror for where we are at on the evolutionary scale.

You are on the right path....have no fear...keep amassing so that you VP is worth more or so as to delegate....both help out others in infinite ways.

"As SP holders, we know if three tokens already announced that will be airdropped to us..."

I do not understand what you mean by this. There seems to be a typo that may be impeding my understanding, but even moving past that I just have no idea what tokens you are discussing.

Can you elucidate?

Thanks!

Vice, Appics and another one that I cannot remember the name.

I had no idea we SP holders were going to get airdrops of other tokens.

Thanks for the good news.

I guess I need a wallet =p

Beautifully written and I am glad to see someone else mention 5D. It is time for us to awaken and in order to do that one has to let go a little of one's self.

I'd never seen your user name before but with a 5D mention I am going to read it now.

Oh you are gonna love his posts. Such an open and very optimistic view of how we can change a lot of things when we embrace the abundance mindset.

Hey Asher, you're definitely not stupid, you're just conscientious. After reading through all of these comments, I think everyone else is in agreement.

I for one am thankful for your delegation and will continue doing my best work here. The great thing about noticing a 'smaller' person here, is that they then want to please you and follow in your footsteps. It's a beautiful thing!

And just so you know, the footprint that you leave here daily is much more powerful than those other guys' wallets.

Long-term perspective, vs. short term, is how I would describe it.

Thanks to @josephsavage, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.

Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!

Hi sneakyninja, apologies I have just accidentally sent you 2 SBD when I was trying to send to sneaky-ninja. Would you be able to return it? I will provide a follow and some upvotes in return!

No problem! The 2 SBD has been returned to you.

Hi sneakyninja! Thank you very much and apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Upvotes incoming!

Thank you for giving a shit about Steemit <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Much Love and Respect, Always <3

Aww thank you!

We are trying!

You can take a short or a long term approach to how you handle your power. Love that you are taking a long term approach and investment into Steemit.

Those looking for short term gains are helping fuel the spam issues on Steemit. Paid bots serve a purpose allowing smaller members to have a chance to gain exposure. But reality is they also allow spammers to profit.

While I have been testing paid votes to try and gain some exposure I tend to look at the other posts that are paying for votes. WAY to many of them are stolen content using this paid services to gain rewards that would never happen if human eyes looked at the content.

These posts are the ones that I think make these voting bots an issue for long term success of Steemit. Nobody likes spam and stolen content has an entire realm of legal issues that could potentially be brought down on the steemit platform.

But on the flip side I like that it's at least out in the open over being hidden as likely would happen without the bots. Also probably important that those with high SP have a way to earn vs powering down and dumping it. Think prices would crash very quickly if their income source was taken away.

All that said you aren't stupid IMO, just taking a longer term investment into the system vs going for short term personal gains. By elevating smaller members you are helping build the future of the platform. More members that see success the more members that will be out there promoting steemit. More promotion leads to increased growth and increased values for steem which will be your real long term financial benefit.

Keep helping those smaller then you that are willing to put in the work! You are helping build a better future for everyone on steemit by encouraging good behavior. Thank you for taking this positive approach to the use of the SP you have earned.

Hi @abh12345, This is my first week on this platform. When I started, my SP was 3 since I had bought this Steemit account from Blocktrades after getting loan from a Steemian who has actually adopted me. He also helped me get 25 SP on lease from Minnowbooster for 2 weeks so that I won't suffer from Steemit bandwidth issue. I'm putting all my efforts to earn at least 13 SP in this time period so that when the leased SP goes back to MB, I would be able to continue my Steemit journey smoothly. Here is my question to all these gerenous Steemians:

@stellabelle, @steevec, @fulltimegeek, @paulag, @techslut, @wwf, @carlgnash, @cheneats, @coolguy123, @cranium, @crimsonclad, @drakos, @flauwy, @goldendawne, @hendrix22, @hitmeasap, @howtostartablog, @inquiringtimes, @kubbyelizabeth, @lyndsaybowes, @old-guy-photos, @skycae, @taskmaster4450

What's the criteria to earn some SP delegation?

I'll appreciate your response.

I look for people to add value to the steem block chain through high quality content, conversations and dialogue. I also look for people who are living off grid, homesteading or doing some serious spiritual work. In the end though, I allow spirit to move me in regards to who I delegate steem.

Thanks for what you do. This is definitely a frustrating environment for new folks to the platform. I have been dealing with crypto communities for a long time so I might have developed a "thicker skin" but this can be a brutal place.

This platform has a huge learning curve. However, I've written many posts regarding what I learned through my rise to be a dolphin. If you want, my post has links to a number of other posts to help new users on steemit. I hope it helps.

https://steemit.com/ungrip/@wwf/stewards-of-terra-mater-weekly-update-feb-14-2018

Please forgive me @abh12345. It is not my intent to cut in on your post, but rather to help @plgonzalezrx8. I hope you don't mind.

No need to apologise at all, I encourage the linking of content that is relevant to the subject on my posts :)

Thanks a lot. I will also take a look at those. People like you guys are going to be the foundation of this place. Right now I see that early adopters and whales run the place. But as adoption grows, this will be a good place to be.

Thank You @wwf for your input. I really appreciate it.

First, don't drag so many people like you just did now in your post or comments. You should only mention someone if you post or comments have something specifically about the person.

Engage in quality content post and thoughtful commenting to earn some upvote. With the payout, convert your sbd to Steem in the internal market and power up. That way your sp grows faster. And if you are lucky, you might engage with someone (mostly through interacting via comments) who will wanna help you with some delegation but don't go begging or spamming people's blog. It's frown at. I wish you all the best.

Enter my league (the link is in the post) and that will put you in with a chance for some, from myself at least.

Thanks @abh12345, Trying to understand that post.

Just put your name in a comment so i don't miss you off the list, all will become clear in time :D

Just dropped a comment on that post. I hope this is what you meant.

hey @shahzblog! I joined @abh12345's weekly league and there's nothing else you need to do except to continue actively and genuinely engaging and commenting on other people's posts. He then keeps track of all the numbers and you can see how and where you 'rank' compared to others. I'm mostly in competition with myself :)

And just so you know, @abh12345 is the real deal! He was kind enough to delegate to me and I am so grateful for it!

Good luck and stay true to the realness here, because to me the main point of good commenting is to always strive to better the platform as a whole, and to selflessly lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone.

Hi @lynncoyle1, Thank You very much for your great input. I agree with you, staying genuine stays one on track and one can earn everything as a bi-product. Just followed you. Would start reading your posts. Good day.

You're welcome...happy to help :)

Depends, some on those list did it because someone else selected those people. Other select based on projects they have on going. Others just do it because other had helped them in the beginning. When you give you think less about what you will get in return and more about the effect it will have on the community as a whole

Yep, some folks I brought over here and they immediately had the bandwidth problems. Others were a bit shy of getting their slider.. Some I just like lol. Whatever the reasons, I enjoy it and I'm still having fun. Hey thanks for the mention!

When does the slider happen?

500 SP on Steemit but you can use busy.org which gives everyone a slider.

thank you!

At about 500 Steem Power here. You can use the eSteem app though to do the same I think.

There are several ways to use the voting slider before you reach the 500SP treshold. I’ve listed them in my latest post

2 reasons I have delegated too. Really great to see people like yourself paying @fulltimegeek's generosity forward.

Thanks for the comments today!

I absolutely agree with you on your thoughts about commenting. I have seen few quality posts getting a lots of up votes but no comments and many posts with minnows commenting like crazzy just in hope to get an up vote. I belive in establising relationship with your readers via exchage of knowledge and thoughts but Steemit seems to lack in such thing. Things will fall in right place eventually. Just hope for good.

Thanks for your comments.

And yes, it's my hope that 'things will fall into place', they may need a few more tweaks first though!

Delegation might be very good if used properly. Commenting is the only way one can breathe light to a post and bring about meaningful interactions

Yes for sure. I check my delegates don't worry :)

Commenting is the only way one can breathe light to a post and bring about meaningful interactions

Nailed it.

Thank you for being the first real person to breath a bit of light here!

You're welcome, always happy to give my opinion on good posts... breathe life into it😊

Not being greedy is not stupid man

It just means you really are here for the long term, doing everything possible to help this platform find success and change millions of lives for the better.

Bid bots aren't changing people's lives, nor making steem better... they are just kind of exploiting the system and that's it. They are earning a lot of money right now... but the cost of this greediness can be monumental if this platform ends up failing because of the bid bots breaking the system... I wonder if their consciousness will be fine if this ever happens?

I'm wondering if we've reached a peak with regards to them - I hope so!

Sadly I don't think so. Since the platforms seems to be very strong, people simply feel comfortable milking it... That's what I think.

Hello Asher,
I've heard of you a few times, but now I've read and even commented on you!
Without comments Steemit would be dead.
It always makes me a bit sad when I see how many good posts have a maximum of 2 or 3 comments. I also find it very striking that these are mostly articles written by people who have a reputation of less than 45. Articles that are higher have more comments, whether the content is very good or bad.
Well, it's one of those things here at Steemit. I'm curious to see where the journey goes....
In any case, it's nice to see Steemians with a full account thinking about the community!
But how could Steemit be anything other than the image of our society?
Thanks for that! Have a good night,
Mo*

Some of the posts in the trending are nothing but bid bot graveyards of comments. Hardly any person comments on those posts and 4-6 comments are just confirmation that a bid bot has upvoted the post.

I get an average of 10-20 comments on my posts and usually end up with 2 dollars or less in post value. Sure I would like higher post value but I also value the interaction I get with people.

If Steemit is an image of our society then there are some sectors showing how a gifteconomy and pay-it-forward attitude works here.

Yeah, I know that's the way it is.

I enjoy commenting and replying to comments posted under my posts. In the meantime it happens that I'm over $2, but unfortunately I don't always have 10-20 comments. But I'm sure it will come.
I'm not gonna be around that long.

You got that right! That's one of the things I really like here. Let's hope that this will be even more so in the world!

Greetings from Germany,
Monja

I know it's a bit daunting continue doing that awesome Engagement to the people that leave comments on your posts. Make them feel important enough that they keep coming back to interact with you.

I hope that you stick around long enough to see what SOG has set out to do; an engaged Steemit community.

Hi Mo :)

Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Yes, the place is a bit upside down in my opinion. The best posts are somewhere lost in the Blockchain, but with some engaging conversations going on (and some sadly missing the exposure), while.... I think you know the rest :)

But how could Steemit be anything other than the image of our society?

This is a good question, and one I cannot answer positively at this time.

Thanks again for dropping by!

But how could Steemit be anything other than the image of our society?

This is a good question, and one I cannot answer positively at this time.

That is very funny dry wit. You just answered her question beautifully. :-) I had been thinking along similar lines but I also didn't want to get into that in my other comment.

while.... I think you know the rest :)

Yes, i do! ;)

This is a good question, and one I cannot answer positively at this time.

I'll wait and see. Maybe it will be answered positively at some point! Then we'll meet and celebrate! 😂🎂

Immer gerne!
Gute Nacht :)

Chocolate donut? Yes please!

I´ll bring some, we also have them here in Germany! 😉
Until then. bye

Short term pain, long term gain
To be frank, the whole SP delegation for someone like me started when I myself became a SP delegate from @fulltimegeek and got to know the benefits I earned from that delegation. So, that made me think about doing the same for some people with whom I had interactions earlier and those were the people who are doing something good to Steemit with their actions.

So far, I never thought about the benefits of delegating SP to someone, but I know I will have some additional friends in doing so and it's something paying back to Steemit by helping some accounts to keep those active and doesn't have bandwidth loss.

Even a 200 SP is really huge for someone like me because it's all earned through posts and not a purchased one and I still want to continue with delegating that because I feel happy that that's used for some better activities by the people who get that as a delegated SP.

Even a 200 SP is really huge for someone

Yes it is, and for new starters even 50 SP will rid the bandwidth issue. I hope all is well over on your side of the world.

That's very true.
I am happy to follow some one like you and other SOG's in this regard.

I hope all is well over on your side of the world.

I hope so, I just lost the power to vote many guys, but rest is back to normal as it was before delegation, although I am not able to attract many to my posts. Need to look into different subjects, have something in my mind about some other topics.

Happy to see you making progress through different reports, may be that's an additional option to try.

You're not stupid bro. What you do adds value to the steemit community.

It encourages those who are making great content. They'll be motivated to create more, when they know someone appreciates their good work.

We should all aspire to do something that moves this community.
And you my friend are just that.

Thank you very much for your kind message, I'm glad it provides the encouragement needed, especially when you are starting out.

It's nice to see you play it long term instead of going full sell-out which many of the whales are doing these days as the SBD price is still so high. (I would not mind seeing the SBD price get back to normal so actual curation gets encouraged again on this platform)

I honetsly try to find a good middle ground right now supporting solid accounts to help the sports betting community grow and getting some SBD from my dialy upvotes when my voting % gets above a certain level. I've been thinking about giving some small delegation away to help those with bandwith problems. Still have to learn how to do this SP delegation.

Thanks for the insipration Asher !

I would not mind seeing the SBD price get back to normal so actual curation gets encouraged again on this platform

Totally, this needs to happen, or at least something does.

To see a whale take this route, and one who's known for dropping big votes on worthy content is a bit of a downer.

I use Vessel, @jesta's desktop application. It's rock solid and works a treat.

Good luck continuing the betting community, I must make my way over more often and apologies for not doing so.

A pleasure, cheers!

It worries me that noting has been said recently by @ned and other devs about the SBD situation and how it totally breaks the curation system on this platform.

Thanks for the tip on vessel, I'm checking it out right now.

Yeah for sure, I think the next fork will help if i've read correctly.

Did you take a look at Vessel?

Yes I did, I've installed it but have yet to log in.
using private keys and such still makes me a bit anxious :)

Thanks for the tip

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Yeah that's cool, but just as long as you don't use the owner key you should be fine. Like steemconnect, the keys aren't stored by the app, and if worse comes to the worst, you can reset them all with the owner key.

Cheers!

You have collected your daily Power Up! This post received an upvote worth of 0.31$.

No, you are not stupid, though not smart either- you are wise. I often look around at society (and much of history) and feel like it is a shitty video game that I do not want to play, but it is stuck in my console so this is what I'm working with lol. The Tragedy of the Commons was a great paper I was shown that did a mathematical break down of selfishness, and the effects of private gain in a shared space. I'm with you, I believe that it is possible to have a much more productive (not to mention enjoyable- the bigger of the two IMO) social organization if we are NOT selfish, and I have to fight the urge to starve to prove it. We need to fix the game, we have been playing this version for a looooong time, and its way past due for an update lol

Thanks, an enjoyable to read reply :)

We do need to fix the game, Steemit was a hope for some - and still is I guess, lets hope we can get an update to this game somehow!

I look at it like this: older civilizations might take 2k years to get to domination then collapse. That's quite a few generations and even though people tried to pass stories down to warn about what happens when such and such a problem occurs, it was tough to get most people to understand it before it was too late. So we repeat mistakes over and over and over. Now the U.S has take just over 200 years (not to collapse but to start to see signs of a collapsing society), still fresher, but hard for most people to witness the full cycle (they can't live through it, but we have more public sharing of information). Now Steemit has taken only about 2 years to go from a fresh society to one that shows signs of the same selfish, economic and law problems that we see in any society. 2 years is short enough that most people are going to watch the cycle and really see it for what it is... this is great! We now might actually have large scale use of people's minds to solve these problems- experiment with 'rules' behaviors and social rewards. We might actually solve this sh*t haha. i am pretty hopeful about this project and the blockchain, micro economic, decentralized stuff in general. i'm still getting very bummed by how people are acting, but i have some hope we may actually figure it out finally :)

Hats off to you. I would love to say I would have that kind of integrity, but man, that passive daily income could really make a nice dent in my student loans... sigh. A girl can dream.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Arggh, Student loans - much bigger these days but still took me years to pay off.

Glad to see another student on my blog this evening - if you can keep hold of your Steem Power this place could set you up nicely in a few years.

Check out @curie, they are a good account to aim a post at when you are starting out.

Good luck!

@malloryblythe has already been curied Asher. :) She is one talented gal! We've been highlighting her work on the @newbieresteemday account since she came onboard. Of course, it had to be the one account we were late to that received the curie upvote.

Mallory has graduated from newbie school, but she is now part of our newbieresteemday community. :)

Well what a lucky pup she is! I never got a curie!

Surpassed her mentor that's for sure!

As often happens with youth and a good guide :D

Just a former student!

Fingers crossed :) I try not to get my hopes up anymore, but worst case scenario, I have good motivation to keep honing my writing skills. And I’ve met some really great new friends in the process. Thank you so much for supporting all of us. If it weren’t for you all at #newbieresteemday I never would have been curied and I would still be struggling to get started. Doing my best to pay it forward :)

Ahh, 'former' until the debt is cleared!

Well done on the curie, now you know what it takes :D

It's a great way to engage the newbies like us on the platform. Things and deeds like these also encourages us to improve he level of our content and engagement. I hope you keep up this good work in future.
Maybe there are other folks out there who would follow this trend.

Lets hope more do, I'm glad it's appreciated by yourself as a newcomer, cheers!

I'll continue delegating my Steem Power and continue to give more of it out to those that are here greasing the chain, making me laugh, producing work that is worth sharing, commenting, and encouraging people to do the best they can.

In fact, you have been talking about the problem over Steemit for the last 2 months. Many people do not even notice it. Unfortunately people who think like you are very few. I quoted above, you are very right in your words. I saw too much quality sharing. But unfortunately they do not see the worthy value. I've been here for 3-4 months. And I earned a little. I spent it because I was a student and I needed it. I wish I had not needed it and invested in the Account.
Unfortunately people like you are very few ...

Thank you @abh12345

Thank you @slayer10

I understand the requirement to 'cash out', that's what the option is there for when you need it - and as a student it's likely you do.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much @abh12345

OMG Asher we had the same post but of course, yours is better because it had more data whereas mine is simple musing of whether it makes sense to curate people and spread the votes or if we the SP is better off in vote selling or bot delegation. I even tested it out using the platform you indicated here to see if it is true on the earnings part.

We arrived at the same conclusion that the connections built and the inspired people who receive our upvotes and comments far outweigh the SBD and SP rewards that we can get if we just see it as a business.

I am one of those people that you gifted with delegation and I am quite happy that even if I use 10% I am able to really spread my vote. My target is to be able to get at least 500 unique votes on different people.

Well I don't think you are stupid. We all just care enough to see this platform florish.

Right on!

Sorry for not checking in on that post, there's so many I miss - not enough hours in the day.

Really glad, especially as a delegate, that we arrived at the same conclusion.

Keep on with the inspirational community building work :)

Thank you so much Asher and there are a tons of projects you have and so many comments to take care of so its ok!

Stupid? By no means.
I view it as none of us are stupid. We are all, in a subconscious unified way, working to make steemit not only a better platform but also making the blockchain stronger.

I choose to delegate my Steem Power to people who are engaging here on Steemit.

People who are dedicated to not only their own success, but the advancement of steemit, can be seen in your Curation League list but also ALL over steemit commenting, replying and interacting while adding to the posts' value.

Thanks...its people like u who make the place more bearable. To some people it is always about rubbing shoulders with the whales. To me i think its more about being there for the minnows. Sometimes it may not be upvotes that they are looking for but it could have been. The most important thing is being a friend.

Um, no. I don't think that it's stupid. I've been delegating as I grow. I've been trying to make an attempt to maintain a 25% delegation ratio as my account grows. Like many of the other comments, I think it's something that each of us should be doing as we get to a comfortable level with our SP. It's that simple.

@erodedthoughts also delegates out for free to help plankton get a slider and reinvest in the platform. I think it's wonderful what you all do. I think it creates a pay it forward culture. A positive one to duplicate. 😁

Stupid? Likely just the opposite, because you have a long-term vision of how to improve everyone's experience here on Steemit. You've certainly improved mine, and I believe that has trickled down to all those others that I interact with on a daily basis. It really is like the flutter of a butterfly's wings creating massive change.

It really is like the flutter of a butterfly's wings creating massive change.

Nicely put and i hope this is the case :)

Thanks @moneyinfant!

Here you are again!!! ahahhaa oh it's on like Donkey Kong!

It really is like the flutter of a butterfly's wings creating massive change.

This is a great line MI and yeah that how I feel as well on what we cn achieve as we spread out our votes and comments.

It's good to have some people who actually give a shit about this platform ( forgive my language). Am eternally grateful to @tarazkp, who's name did not appear on the list, for leasing out 250sp to me and others for a month. At a point I couldn't upvote or comment due to heavy hit from bandwidth wahala, but that's no more. I have tried to extend the love by getting a few people, who have not been approved to join Steemit for a month, to get instant invite via Steeminvite but unfortunately the site is down. So I'll relax and extend the love by engaging with users on this platform. To you @abh12345 and @tarazkp, I say thank you for actually caring about the direction which this platform is heading. 谢谢。

Language excused, I don't normally swear either :)

Thanks for letting me know about @tarazkp, I will add him to the list.

Continue your good work :)

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

No, you are not stupid. You are a more giving person. It's your nature. You also see the whole picture, not just the part that is you. And also what is needed for the whole to function. It's a more expanded vision.

But people are different. It may only be a business opportunity for someone and they are only concerned about their immediate bottom line.
Others may really need the income for living their daily lives.

I think what you are doing is great. And whether u realize it or not, giving or donating will always have a positive, beneficial affect on the giver even though that isn't the reason they/you are giving. So enjoy what you are doing.

I see that you have been contacted by a re-steeming service that will re-steem this post for you for a couple of SBD. Well, I just re-steemed it for free. Your ideas should be spread to the other Steemians. Cheers.

Hi @mgood

Thanks for your comments. A business opportunity of sorts it must be for many, but why compromise your business when you can help others?

Thanks for the encouragement to continue down this path.

I see that you have been contacted by a re-steeming service that will re-steem this post for you for a couple of SBD. Well, I just re-steemed it for free

Ha! Thank you! :)

I think its great that your looking at the long term benefits that Steemit has to offer. Your not looking to get rich at the moment, but pushing to make this the best social media of the future. I too recently posted a blog about crap post and upvotes. I currently work and still have time to put at least 2 hours a day of work to build this Social media platform. Although, your aren't technically getting money back for delegating Steem your building bridges with people for the future. I wish you nothing but success and prosperity in the near future.

Hi notorious - glad to see you are on board!

Hi, and thank you @notorious562 :)

Although, your aren't technically getting money back for delegating Steem your building bridges with people for the future.

Absolutely, and I shall stick to this path and see if it works well in the future.

Yup that is why we love you Asher! You rock mate. Thanks for the shoutout.

<3

My pleasure Carl, keep doing it right man!

Indeed, it's quite disconcerting that leasing a delegation is more profitable than curating. How does that work? How can that be ended? That's what I want to know

Indeed. And not just more profitable, off the flipping scale profitable. How can this place work when that is the case?

I've stated before that I'm pro HardFork 17s delegated SP tweak, as it allows projects like utopian-io and dtube to take STEEM forward. But as for Steemit.com itself, it is worrying.

How can we end it without killing delegations to other apps, I do not know but will have a think!

I certainly wouldn't seek to eliminate the ability to delagate. Simply to figure out why exactly it's more profitable to lease a delegation than it is to curate. I'd like to hope there is a way to solve that besides eliminating delegations.

This is down to the 'high' SBD value. STEEM needs to rise, or SBDs need to fall. You receive SP (vested STEEM) for curation, and SBDs for content - which you can then stick a nice self-vote or a bot on!

Ahhh, yes... Thank you for that, because my brain was not computing

No, of course you are not stupid. You only care so much which, when placed up against the other options for your STEEM, shows you have taken the path less traveled.

I am afraid that I have taken the obviously more profitable path, but my reasoning is that the people that care for Steemit (and not see it merely as a cash cow) need to hold the Steem for future benefits.

So I loan my Steem, but power up everything. That is my own version of short term pain for long term gain.

Thanks @getonthetrain - I want Steemfest 3 to happen!

More bots appear each day, and the bidding rounds are still being filled. We do need the price of SBD to plummet, or a fork that rewards curation more.

It's good to know you power up everything, I'm hopeful this will serve you very well in future. Perhaps SMTs will bring new life, as the alternative applications have...

Congratulations @abh12345!

2nd time this week, woop!

Interesting ways of making money. My upvote is worth a tiny 0.20 and I often curate what I like anyway so I don't really have much steem power left to delegate, any recommendations for me if I decide to take a break and let my account sit, should I delegate to a bot and make passive income or do I give to a worthy soul for a while?

satire
I'm a greedy a steemian who wants to make money, I don't care about others who are not part of my gains. All I want are upvotes to grow my account till I can make mega SBD like @hainjin. Let's be honest we all want more than our fair share. We all definitely want our fair share. I am the shadow thoughts of everyone who uses steemit. I'm here to make money. I understand the rules of engagement. Make content that gets upvotes by any means possible. The fact is I don't care about ned or his social utopian platform because I am a westernised humanoid who operates in the capitalist frequency band of make money and fuck others who get in your way. Are you any different? If so why is there a homeless population in your town/city. Because you haven't solved any problems have you? Nope, I'm not stupid. I just give a shit.

Hello Asher, nope I do not think you are stupid. I don't know when they do their payout to their investors, but I do know that @bellybank from several months back enticed a lot of investors with 45% ROI scheme, if I recall correctly he took the money and ran. @virtualgrowth ran a loan loanee cut and run with the money, loaners were left without. No I do not think you are stupid nor any of those you listed, fools and their money are soon parted. One name to add to the list of donate SP for free.
Prior to you being so nice to me and pushing my SP up and over the top so I could more effectively vote on post, @davemccoy gave me free of charge, no strings attached 50 of his own small balance of SP to try and help boost me up to the magic steemit 480SP level. So even though he may not have the thousands of SP points and power of some of those you listed, his name deserves to stand with them. Just my opinion.

Hey @bashadow, its always great to see you. I will let Asher weigh in more on you post, I just wanted to say thank you for the kind words and giving you and @beeyou delegations was something I will never forget! I have been so proud of you both and love the energy and drive I see every single day!

You care and it shows, and furthermore I love your style! Keep up everything you do and I am going to give you one of my three nickels for this blog because you are special!!!

No i don't delegating steem power to other for interest makes you stupid..

For me, comments(replies) are the grease that oils the Blockchain here on Steemit. Without them, no matter how epic the post is, things would look pretty sad.

You said everything that is needed to be done @abh12345 ..Great post

I'm with you I think, thank you for comments :)

I should also add that calling somebody 'stupid' is violence in an attempt to control or manipulate the behaviour of another individual. I suspect that those who charge for steem may struggle as others give it away for free which is hard to compete against. As a result, name calling to demoralize or dehumanize people is not appropriate behaviour. is violent and I call anybody out to rebuke them should they engage in any sort of behaviour like that!

Apologies, that was me calling myself stupid, not anyone else just to make things clear.

This does give me a good chance though to apologise for not continuing the conversation on your blog the other day. I was tired and had little more to add. I really appreciate your stance and know this has come with plenty of thought and experience.

I forgive you my friend.

I'm curious as to why you would call yourself stupid. Self abuse is not a healthy thing. However, if the intent was more of a technique to spur on debate, it worked.

Thank you for honouring me with those words. I know that my views can be very challenging and difficult at times. It is not easy. I do appreciate and value your support and willingness to have the conversations, even if we don't agree. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for you because of your approach and your capacity to have challenging conversations while keeping them peaceful. Not many people can do that. Bravo to you for walking the path and honouring people despite their differences.

It was a clickbait title in some respects yes, I don't think it's stupid - perhaps naive and unselfish? Anyway, I'm glad I have you and others taking this approach too, that provides me with comfort and support that we are doing it right.

Thank you @wwf, best wishes to you and all.

ahhhhh. Well the click bate worked! Thank you for the clarification. That feels better as it did not fit in with your character, or at least what I know of you.

I think you are doing great. It is always healthy to re-evaluate and that is what I see this piece as. Steem on!

Peace to you my friend.

I have found the more that you give the more is given to you!!

hey hey, that's the saying - and yes, this post has earned me enough comments to keep me busy for hours! :D

Great analysis @abh12345 !!
You are not a stupid ..
Its steemit system problem....
Don't worry. We expect that they are came back from this problem...

Thank you @prince121!

Definitely giving it to a bid bot is more profitable for a person, but in reality it doesn't help Steem much, hardly anybody gets a profit from bid bots, and I can only think of 2 positive things about them: If you bid for at least 50 SBD you will probably make your post very visible and can probably get some good rewards, the other one is that these votes do add up to increase your REP. So I think even though your approach makes you lose money, which is something very important, you can make up for it knowing you are doing something worthwhile, becasue delegating your SP makes the person who got it to start upvoting, this means the rewards are more likely to be spread among a lot of people which I think is the right idea.

you will probably make your post very visible and can probably get some good rewards, the other one is that these votes do add up to increase your RE

I agree and have used them for this purpose in the past. A little hypocritical of me of course, but this was due to a post I read that stated that if the good authors don't use them, the crappy posts will rise to the top!

I'm paying for my sins with these delegations :)

Thanks for the comments!

I just have to say that when @wwf delegated (I think thats the right term...I'm still rather new at this) me some STEEM it made all the difference. Somehow that shot in the arm gave me the hope and determination I needed to stay determined. Thanks for the post and your commitment to making Steemit a great place to work and grow.

Yes that's the right term :)

Thank you for the kind comments, together we can make this place great!

You are a visionary who takes along everyone on the path of greatness together as a team :)

Don't listen to the magic 8 ball...he's just in a bad mood, maybe he's shaken up too much and needs to calm down, haha.

You're awesome. So is @karensuestudios ... she's another person you can add to your list of people who delegate for free! She's such a light on the steemit platform

haha :)

Thank you! Yes I met @karensuestudios at Steemfest 2 and have just seen her competition, awesome!

I'll add her in!

Ok, as a complete noob to steem. Should we or should we not delegate steem? I only have a few SP, like 90, but in my attempt to help the platform, I chose to use Steemauto's curation trail and follow some of my favorite curators, is that a good thing to do? I want this platform to grow because I have a lot of faith in it, but there are a lot of moving parts that I have yet to understand (The other day I got attacked by bots because I replied to a post haijin (or something like that) made. Then my phone exploded with notifications of people flagging me. That was a really sad feeling because my comment was really genuine and I'm not a bot of anyone.

For now I wouldn't worry about delegating STEEM.

I personally would advise against trails for now too, at least wait until you have more Steem Power, and choose your votes (maybe on comments to increase their visibility) for the content/authors you really take a liking to. The aim early on is to gain like-minded followers, but it is tough without the 'proof of stake'.

Perhaps look into @curie, @utopian-io, @dtube - These accounts do not care about your proof of stake, and reward content for it's content - not the author.

Sorry about the flags relating to that account - I would take a watching brief on those posts.

Good luck!

Thanks! I will definitely take a look at those. I'm a developer and I see a huge potential on this place. I just want to learn all the ins and out of Steem and what can I do to grow this place. And of course, it is a great tool that can lead to financial gain.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the bots....ive delegated some SP to a curation bot, which I think is a good thing as its specifically curating quality content. Then I've followed some curation trails like curie with steem auto. What I'm hoping to do is encourage starters (like me) trying to create quality content & engage in the platform. Am I headed in the right direction? Thanks @abh12345

If you look to the calculations you made, delegating SP for free seems crazy, when you only have short term plans for steemit selling SP would be the best choice. When you like steemit and are willing to see it grow to get long term results, delegating for free is the best decision you can make. If everyone with 500+SP would consider adopting (delegating to) a new or low SP account with good content, the future of steemit will be bright. Even if they are setting up some basic rules to avoid abuse.

Adopt a minnow - that has been done by some, it's a great idea.

And don't worry, I run the stats on my delegates - I was going to put them in the post but felt like a change!

Check a Stewardsofgondor post of mine for more details of what is looked for, or add yourself to my curation league post.

Cheers!

I would say, you might be stupidly mad about Steemit !!! And its certainly not shit. There are two cultures breeding in Steemit now : Earning without any investment and earning with investment. The first one , needs great content, and in the long term that will prevail. Just a matter of time.

How much time are we talking here? The 'rich' are getting richer, and can force the 2nd more and more it seems?

Till lot of community that comes up with the first kind in the fleet, I believe.

No none is stupid nor anybody wants to be, it's all about how one is guided via his/her environment. I do believe these all are the great souls with wonderful thoughts who always wants to promote minnows and support anyone who wants help from them , I have massive respect for all these awesome members of this platform

Thank you so very much Asher for guiding the folks about bid-bots approach, thanks a lot my spiritual brother @abh12345 <3

well many people are onto making steemit great and fighting the spam and helping the creative content creators out this made me happy that there are so many amazing people out

I, too, sometimes think about what to delegate my SP somewhere. For example, in the same Smartsteem. But, I understand that if everyone does this, there will not be people who will review their tape and read the messages, and this will lead to the complete collapse of STEEM. It is this understanding that holds me back.

Bravo! Very well stated. Are you stupid? You should have entered @erodedthoughts’s stupid comment contest for the battle of stupidity. He too is delegating SP to others. One of my teammate entered his stupid contest, and I saw a stupid comment back. Lol, I don’t think we were deemed stupid enough but he I like!

Obviously, you I like too! But that’s not a surprise since you are OUR favorite SOGs.

I saw @bashadow’s comment earlier sharing that @davemccoy delegated 50 SP to him. Have to add that Dave delegated 50 SP to me too. I’m able to come online during the congested bandwidth morning hours due to his delegation. I’m sure he just wants me to share my cheerleading spirit with the Steemit world. All in self gain. 😉

Of course I want you to share that cheerleading spirit! Omgosh you always find a way to help others and recognize people in ways that many don't see. And I'm very happy with my choice to give to both you and @bashadow, I just wish I had more so you could touch even more people! The good thing is that Asher's League of Excellence is the coolest league to be in so we have many more people to meet and lots more connections ahead! Its going to be fun and I love all of what you do everyday here!

Here's a newbie nickel from @danielsaori (I'm limiting them to 3 on a blog to make them even more special!) ;)

What would I do with more SP @davemccoy? What you shared with me is plenty.

Yours and Asher's SP delegation to @bashadow makes an impact on here! I especially enjoyed one comment he made to a relatively new user who was trying to sell upvote/resteem services to our newbies on a @newbigames post.

I provide my votes for free, and the newbie resteem team members provide resteem for free. Why do you charge new users? Why are your services not free?.. Even though I do not think you deserve it I upvoted you any ways. At 1%.

Priceless!

Go @bashadow!!! It doesn't get better than that, hey @beeyou? :)

I was cheering @bashadow on the whole time. Darn proud of him too. Then when I got to 'At 1%', I couldn't stop laughing!!!

You have to go see Dave's engagement post @lynncoyle1. @amariespeaks has a giphy on there worshiping @davemccoy. LOL. Oh my. Our team cracks me up.

hahaha that's awesome!

ok I'm going to check it out!

The calculation looks really interesting! Delegating Steem Power is very good for people who are able to do it. Unfortunately many good posts remain unseen even the authors spent hours working on them.

Anyone can delegate - even 5/10 SP. But I much prefer this route :)

You are right . The members like me have get no upvote because senior members not interested in my post so our efforts become useless. All are to be equally treated so as all get their benefits and also transfers to others at the time of need.

you give it to everyone who work here to make steemit great you are the driving force keep helping the steemians all the way :D i wanted to know is there any easy way to delegate and undelegate steempower ??

Thank you @blazing :)

I use Vessel by @jesta, it is a desktop application and find it very useful.

Post is so good that words can't describe.

Man!😜

Where can I see the delegation stat of an account like the screenshot you showed here?

If you promise not to delegate I'll show you :p

https://smartsteem.com/ - The button at the top right 'calculate revenue'

If you promise not to delegate I'll show you :p

I am not in that position.
Thanks for the link.Unfortunately, this isn't the tool I am looking for.Is there any tool to check the delegator of any steem account?

Like this?

Thanks😀

I didn't know that SP could be exploited like rental property though it doesn't really surprise me. Greetings!

people like you still exists who don't see their own gain but see for the community and try their best :)

Thank you!

you are the intelligent and genius stupid hahah just kidding you are doing great for all by delegating to those who deserve it

Thank you @cutiepie :D

smart steem a cool thing if we don't want to curate this is great idea looks safe too

we should always think for long term it might be painful but it will always pull of great profits :)

hello sir @abh12345 i am here on this platform from last month and have learn alot from you and other great persons but when i wanted some sp on lease then i couldnt find anyone who can delegate me some power on lease for a week or two ?
if you can help me with your delegation then i hope my bandwidth issues will solve out soon .. :)
thanks for your kindness..

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Hi
You have SBDs to buy STEEM and power up I see...

yes i have but i want uh to delegate me some SP for a week or two sir.
will you help me sir @abh12345 for power up??

i need 7000 SP but at cheap rate sir because as u know i don't have enough sir so kindly if you can help me so ??

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

It's a bit cheeky to ask for Delegated SP when you can power up and not worry about Bandwidth.

This will help if you wish to Power up from SBD: https://steemit.com/teammalaysia/@aaronleang/guide-on-converting-sbd-to-steem-and-power-up

but if i will convert by all SBDs to steem and power up so i will not get at amount delegation will help me a lot if you can delegate some power to me for a week because i am from a poor family and i want money for my admission in college so if can i will be very thankful to you for this kind act sir @abh12345..
i really need it sir ??
i want your delegation but i will pay sir but i need at cheap rates sir and you can help me alott..

I couldn't agree less to this. Well said. Delegation of steempower is another of way to see to the growth of minnows among which I'm one. Such initiative is good and laudable

I think you mean to say "I Couldn't agree more" , saying less makes it seem at first like you completely disagree ;)

:) oopsie!

It's better to not delegate at all and keep growing and having as much steem power as we can, even lease I don't like, I prefer to fight and post everyday and invest in my steem power to grow rather than give power hard work earned power to someone to give me some steem dollar to spend.

You are not stupid ,it maybe system problem

Amazing writing sir... i appreciate you...👍☺

No they aren't stuppid. They are helping the community to grow.

Amazing get free sp but i never get it, on average 5 hours i take the time to write a post just get $ 0.04 😂😂🇮🇩🇮🇩

good post.
I agree with you in particular on this point.
|Short term pain, long term gain

Ok

Dear senior members! I am totally new at this platform and try to understand the methods of earnings from steemit but it is also clear to me that without your support I will not be able to earn a single dollar, so please help me and give me some upvotes to boost me up. I have a greatest hope from you peoples... regards

Not the best way to go about it i'm afraid.

Sir I didn't understand why you afraid? Please express if you have time . Thanks

...it sabotages a better mean to achieve your goal - upvoting good comments.

I disagree. I have 10 more sets of eyes looking to do this. It is impossible to make your way around even 5% of what is posted each day, and to read all the comments on a post as well, not even 1%

Bot upvoting comments does not do it for me - if they have not been read. Is that the case with @gentlebot?

Delegating to a bot that upvotes accounts you mention? Not on my life sir!

I disagree. I have 10 more sets of eyes looking to do this.

What does it mean?

Why did biophil create his 2 bots?
Because

It is impossible to make your way around even 5% of what is posted each day, and to read all the comments on a post as well, not even 1%

Again, due to biophil's bots not playing favorites, both his bots upvoted checkthisout/grumpycat comment spam farming.
I do not appreciate it.
He should use blacklists and he does not.
