I am using Steemit for more than half a year and from the beginning I was very active and eager to grow that reputation number and of course my wallet. In some way things run pretty well and I don't regret any second spent on this platform, because it's different and it's good to be here. Different from all that I had and "tasted"..yet. Thus I searched for all types of tips and tricks to boost my account and some of the most advertised ones, that I felt for, were...
No, not bid bots, although I tried them also. It's actually steemfollower and steemengineteam that I am talking about. Some Steem services where you have all sorts of posts listed, from members, on which you can cast your votes in order to have yours listed over there also. Steemfollower was the first I joined and have been using it for some good amount of time, while on steemengineteam I am casting my one cent upvote only for a couple of moths. Both do almost the same thing: you upvote their posts, they upvote yours, but not in the upvote for upvote way.
For a while though, at least in the case of steemfollower I find pretty hard some good posts to upvote because mostly there are that type of posts consisting of one picture attached to a short description and wearing a sensational title like two apples or beautiful sunset. Can't say that I don't understand them and their users mindsets, but I don't like them either...Plus not always the pics are made by the author, being just downloaded from google, so there are times when I find myself scrolling for minutes to find at least 5 posts to share my upvote with in order to have mine listed and it's simply not worth it. If I were to simply cast my upvotes randomly I would do that in seconds but I would encourage spam and low quality posts and I don't want that.
I still consider Steemit as the best blogging/social media platform, that I am aware off, and I wish the best for it thus I am keeping my upvotes for the best. So, yesterday was the last time I upvoted any post around those above mentioned platforms. It's not like I don't find them useful in anyhow and for some users, but not for me, anymore. In my opinion spam is flooding them more and more and I am not a fan of spamming in anyway. I sometimes feel somehow odd and a spammer also when I post with steepshot just one pic and a few phrases, but probably it's just my mental concepts that are too rooted in the idea that Steem is more for blogging than for instagraming. However I am working on that and you would probably see more often this types of posts when that's all I have to say and share.
So, from now on I will give my 1 cent upvote only to the people that I follow and like reading and I can do that twenty times a day, at least, without draining my VP, as I will not vote anything...elsewhere. Can't say that I haven't got some pretty nice upvotes from there, but I am not willing to upvote spam to get listed there and neither find useful my time lost in searching through lots of pages just to get some decent quality to upvote. I'd better use that time to read a couple of articles in here.
However, if any one of you knows something similar trying, but without the annoying spam, feel free to share it with me in the comments section. I haven't quit my plan on growing my blogging account. Still, I want to do that clean. So, yeah, I am going further on my Steem path without steemfollower and steemengineteam. There's life after almost everything isn't it? Even after death :)
Thanks for your attention,
Ace
hey buddy. you're right, people come onto steem to make money. when people should be coming on here just to change their point of social media. and the plus side of getting on here is you have the opportunity to make some Steem. I spent most of my day on facebook looking at videos and pictures in my bed, and now i just do the same thing and comment on peoples posts on steemit. im sorry you're having it rough, but just remember steem is a social media site, not a money making site. you get paid to curate good content, and if you need help getting out there you need to put in some good effort! sure there are gunna be people that make hundreds on posting one lame freaking picture because they are lazy, but if you put the effort into it like you did in this post, put your hard work and time into creating something the follows will come! just believe in it. people are there for you, you just gotta find the right followers and group!

Few things you can do. 1 - Block users you don't like on steemengine. 2 Follow few people that you like on steemengine and use steem as usual (your upvotes of member content is still counted on there). 3 - Pick your favorite authors from steemengine and add them to steemdunk or steemvoter. 4 - Invite your favorite authors to join so there is better content to upvote (you leaving is making it worse). Also you will get 10 percent of their votes!

I have never used both platform you wrote about!
But I do sell some of my upvotes via smartsteem . There is a referral link in there, if you want to use it, it won't make any difference for you.
The good thing about smartsteem is that you can set from above what VP is can start selling your upvotes. I did set it on 92%. Leaving me enough VP per day to spread around. What I also do like is that you can set it so that I will only upvote posts which are whitelisted by smartsteem, you can even be more specific and select the grading these blogs did get.
A 100% upvote from me is at the moment around $0.08, this way I do earn around 8 SP extra per month. This isn't much but every small thing helps in growing the account. My goal is still to get 750 own SP by the end of the year!
Which also helps is posting via busy in stead of Steemit, which will get you an extra upvote per day. The height of the upvote depends on the vests which are following you!
And then we have of course, the upvotes from SBI, which always gives a push in the back!
Your posts are around $1, so compared to lots of others you are rocking the place!
Keep on blogging!
Cheers,
Peter

I used busy, but I only get about one cent per upvote so it's almost nothing. The idea behind those two is good because it's like we support each other with the best we can, but the spam is too much for me to be part of any of them anymore.

Sorry to see you go.
I believe the spam problem to be manageable on Steem, although I must admit I rarely search for stuff outside my following-feed.

I am not leaving Steemit. Just the two platforms I mentioned in the post. Will upvote only what's on my feed also.

Oh, ok. I missed that part. Didn't try those two platforms.
I installed eSteem on my cellphone, and I'm using it frequently to waste time while I'm on public transport, but I think it has quite many drawbacks. I installed SteepShot, but never used it. I've heard busy.org is a lot better than steemit.com, but didn't try that one out yet. I've been using SteemConnect, SteemWorld.org. I didn't even consider installing actifit. Anything I've been missing? :-)

Nothing I am aware of. I am right now using eSteem also to answer comments. Other than that... I've heard good things about steempeak, but haven't tried it.
