Whether punching "Bad posts" or Supporting "Good ones" you Use valuable Steem Power

in steemit •  7 years ago

Steemit is becoming more and more popular among both professional bloggers and amateurs or even those who migrate from Facebook looking for something newer, but even better as social media platform. One of its main attractions is the rewards that users can receive from other users as a token of appreciation for the work they've done in creating a post. However there is also the reverse of the medal with the possibility of downvotes that might be used against "bad posts" and "spam users" and not only.

The Trending Page as a Battlefield

Trending Page is the place where "theoretically" we should find the cream of recently posted Steemit articles that have been able to receive a large number of votes from both the "rich" and the "poor" in Steem Power on this platform. However, this happens very rarely or not at all, because in the vast majority of cases the articles that appear on this page have some controversial supporters. I say controversy because many people use them although the vast majority hate them. However, for many of us, they are the only chance to make us more popular in the community and make us advertise as bloggers at the same time. Bid bots have a long life on Steemit and will have long time from now on because they are in great demand. Not everyone loves these "bots" that appreciate you for the cost of Stem thus some "whales" consequently downvote those who abuse them by starting a war of digital votes among users.

Fighting for Peace

This war is generally led by top users who have the power to say their word through downvotes. It rarely happens that a beginner uses his voting power in a negative way against a veteran or vice versa. However, this voting power is not limited, and whenever someone uses it, either upvotes or downvotes it is consumed, and one of the top platform users prefer to use their full power to hit who "does not corresponds" to their standards. Without even knowing we have some Steemit wars that do nothing for the growth of the community. The fact that they chose to use their voting power in this way is their choice, but once used to destroy, it can no longer be used to build. Not only the articles on the trending page come into their attention, but also plagiarized or very poor postings that only fill the community with nothing. However, this polling power and this war against the poor quality articles that appear on the trending page may end if the voting power would be used to support rather than destroy.

Promoting instead of downvoting

Seen from a constructive viewpoint, this war of votes on the battlefield of "good" or "bad" can be transformed. Instead of dropping down posts that are considered as unworthy of reaching the trending page, these whales could use the huge Steem Power reserves they have to tap the well-made postings that they think would deserve a place in this section . In my view, it is much easier to help this community grow by supporting users who are making efforts to create useful, interesting, and pleasant to read articles than to consume your power by voting for destruction. In this way, we will not only have a trending page filled with "good" posts, but those who abused the bid bots for crappy posts will be discouraged to use them anymore and flip the coin to create something better. Given that we have limited resources of Steem Power, it would be more creative and useful at the same time to promote what is good instead of destroying what is bad.

When will it end?

I do not think this war will ever end, because it seems that fighting is part of our human nature. Ever since ancient times people have found different reasons to fight against each other. However, I have noticed that this subject of how to use voting power is increasingly being discussed, and there are few who prefer to support quality posts than to try to destroy what does not meet their expectations. I think it's much more important for Steemit as a community to have "generous" users who support her bloggers. In this way, everyone would be encouraged to create the best posts they can and spam users and abusers of bid bots will stop using Steemit or simply change their tactics by following a new trend.
