Someone commented on a similar post a few minutes ago that the votes and dollar amount should be hidden for the first hour of the life of a post. That way a post can be judged more on its content than how much immediate attention it's grabbing. It's a subtle difference, but I think it could do wonders for content quality.
People are begging for upvoted instead of taking the time to learn how to write great posts. Are poorly written posts receiving votes? Yes, but when you look at those consistently making good rewards, they tend to offer something of value. Whether entertainment or thought provoking content.
Yep. Great response, Benj! I think the incentive rewards will create an ecosystem where valuable content is curated and prized above all others. Of course, some garbage will always slip through the cracks.
I think/hope once people "get" the importance of performing curating to getting quid pro quo type up votes some of the more niche tags will gel into communities but if your only reading the trending page and shooting to create what amounts to a viral hit your probably going to have a rough time.
the problem is enough people getting into the viral money. seemingly by accident. are causing others to do the same. and while its the draw to this network. i would like the trending page to actually be good
