300 up - tonight, we dine in heaven! ;)

You know what, I still haven't watched that movie! Might actually get round to it one day...

Anyway, I've just surpassed 300 followers and thought I'd do a quick post. In my 200 post, we had a bit of comedy... today just some ponderings. 

So the followers increase steadily, but the reputation number not so much. I think that it goes up slower the higher you get. So, you can burst into the 30s from the initial 25 but I've been languishing in the late 30s despite creating and curating good content and consistently (the one time in life I want to hit 40+ ;)). 

I have no problem with this but it surprises me when I see people of a higher reputation and they're not really putting out good quality or appear to have much going on in their account. I haven't dug too deep but I do wonder how people jump up in reputation. I guess it's important to 'play the game' as it were. Network with the right people, take part in contests, join/participate in guilds and other ways of boosting your score. Get seen essentially. 

On that note, I've seen some great content from a few people... however the vast majority is terrible. I'm seeing posts with nothing but a picture or video, often not their own content, nonsense comments and plenty of upvote exchanges and spammy workings.  

It would be great to see these 'kinks' ironed out as we go forward and develop into a great social network, focused on quality where the true value producers reap the rewards! I'm not necessarily suggesting that's me, but there are certainly many 'unknowns' who deserve to be at the forefront and some people doing fairly well based on nada. 

I'm interested in the future and what it holds. Steemit has the potential to be a great site and anything else that spins off of Blockchain technology. I'm eager to learn more about cryptocurrency and I have no idea how the Bitcoin fork today will affect things. 

Anyway, just a quickie to say hello to 300 and an excuse to reference the film and include the picture :p. I won't do a post for each 100, I'm thinking the next at 500, then at 1000. 

Whatever happens, these are exciting times... let's buckle up and enjoy the ride! :)
