An 18-year-old boy died on Friday when he was shot in a demonstration in the western Venezuelan city of San Cristobal, bringing the death toll to nearly four months, the prosecutor said.
Gustavo Villamizar "was shot by firearm when he was in a demonstration near the Liceo Alberto Adriani," the Venezuelan Attorney General's Office announced in a Twitter account announcing an investigation into the case.
Several people have died across the country in violent episodes and clashes between protesters and security forces in recent days, especially during the 48-hour general strike convened by the opposition and several social sectors to demand the government of Nicolás Maduro withdraw The election of the constituent assembly scheduled for tomorrow.
Hundreds of people were arrested during this new protest action, which consisted of the closure of companies and was accompanied by a workers' strike and the massive cut of streets.
