I also think that you should reconsider because this area is FULL of really open-minded people, and I think that's a huge requirement for a potential Steemit-User. @amvanaken about five months ago, I was looking into creating a Steemit accelerator in the Denver area, and I wanted to see:
My original post Rocky Mountain Region STEEM/Steemit Accelerator Meetup: Gauging Interest Phase received a ton of support from others in other states, but I didn't see sufficient numbers to move the needle and convince me there was a community to support this accelerator idea. I had a location settled and everything. I also have two newbies who are very interested.
I'm looking forward to this Saturday at Urban Steam. We can talk more about it there. I am also trying to get @kennyskitchen to attend as well. He will be in town until (I think) the end of September, and he has some pretty deep connections with other Steemit users in the Denver area as well and the anarchy community on Steemit.

Yeah honestly you shouldn't get disappointed when people give you "the Fluoride Stare" when you bring this up with them LOL I think one of the best methods could be just printing out small cards that say something like " @Steemit: Come for the rewards, stay for the community" which I think is the offical slogan of Steemit. I feel like when I tell people about Steemit many of them think I'm trying to sell them Steem or something... It also takes a LONG time to fully grasp the whole concept and all the variables, so the average conversation on the street is just not gonna be long enough probably.
