So, we are going to talk about the 'Super Blue Blood Moon' why it's special and why you should go see it. For all of you that think it's just another red moon that is not completely true. The 'Super Blue Blood Moon' has three separate events happening all at once, that's right you didn't misread three separate events all at once!!
Even of one of these were to happen separately it would be considered a sight to see. Imagine seeing all three at once! The last time these events happened together was more than 150 years ago. So that means if you don't see it maybe you'll just have to hear it from your grandchildren, if you know what I mean.
A Blue Moon, Blood Moon and Super Moon will all going to occur simultaneously, even NASA is getting excited why aren't you??
BLOOD MOON
The Blood Moon or the red moon appears in different colors and not just red. The shades can vary from orange, gold and of course red. The causes of the different shades depends on the Earth's atmosphere at the time of the eclipse because what affects the color of the Moon is not the Moon itself but the conditions in our atmosphere. Everything form dust particles to mists and clouds will affect the color of the moon during a Blood Moon.
BLUE MOON
While the Blue Moon isn't actually blue, it is pretty rare. A Blue Moon happens when there is an extra full moon which sneaks in. To simplify when someone asks you how many full moons are there in a year, you would say 12 right? well when there are 13 full moons instead of 12 the 'extra' full moon is called a Blue Moon. This actually happens every 2-3 years
As to why they are called Blue Moons instead of an extra moon. Well the original term was actually a 'belewe moon' and since no one understands what a belewe is anymore we have just replaced 'belewe' with blue. The meaning of 'belewe' is to betray, so the blue moon should in fact be known as the betrayer moon which makes more sense than blue moon.
SUPER MOON
Now the Super Moon might be the most common of these events but is still amazing nonetheless. A Super Moon happens when the moon is at perigee, the point in which the moon's monthly orbit is closest to the Earth making the moon seem larger than it normally is.
So, just imagine all these three separate events happening all at once. I've just tried to make you guys understand what a Super Blue Blood Moon is and why you should go see it. For now we can only imagine what it'll look like but in just a few hours we will be able to see this spectacular event in person!!
