This is one of the simple ideas that if implemented will motivate the authors to contribute more if they see a lot of people actually reading their stuff, and one of the easiest thing is implementing a page view counter, so posters know how many hits their post got.
This will help authors know if their post didn't get enough attention, or rather it has a lot of hits but people didn't like it so they didn't up-vote it.
I hope people in charge of Steemit see this post, and implement this as soon as possible.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

This is a great idea. Even if people do not upvote your posts or reply to it, it would be nice to know how many people actually took time to click on your post and viewed it, even if they did not read the whole post. At least they made the effort to view your post.
