Some thing important about voting power.

in steemit •  7 years ago

First of all, I am not well educated in technical issue or mathematical formulas. Maybe due to that this much of confusion. But it is very important for most of the new members.

It is regarding steemit vote power.

In this few days, after coming to steemit. Most of the times i listened that we should not waste our vote power.
Very important is, I read, new members should not upvote more than 20 times.
If they did so, their voting power will be useless.

I hope so many of our members read this in our steemit community postings.

But today with the grace of God, I got to read one Article @biophil

I am furnishing here what he wrote exactly.
and the link is: https://steemit.com/voting/@biophil/the-complete-definitive-and-yes-ultimate-guide-to-voting-power-updated

How voting power works:
Your account has a number between 0 and 100 called "voting power."
When you vote for a post, slightly more than a 200th of that voting power gets "spent" on your vote.
Your voting power regenerates over time at a fixed rate of 20 points every 24 hours (to be precise, it would grow from 0 to 100 in exactly 5 days).
How to vote optimally:
In general, you should never vote less than about 40 times per day (the exact number is closer to 39.2 votes per day, due to a minor implementation error). If you do vote less, you're letting your voting power go to waste (because your "tank" is full some of that time, and the "drip" is spilling over the brim).
Surprising news: if you want to maximize your total influence, it doesn't matter how much you vote, as long as you vote more than about 40 times per day. Your total influence is the same whether you vote 1000 times per day or 40.
However, The more you vote, the less each of your votes are worth. So you could vote 1000 times per day, but each of those votes wouldn't be worth very much. Your total influence would be optimal, but your influence per vote would be very low.

It says we should not upvote less than 40 times per day.
He explained very well with good mathematical calculations.
But unfortunately, as I am not sound with mathematical calculations and technical issue (I am qualified with a master degree in commerce).
Can anyone clarify my confusion, please?

I read article on the link you provided 3 days ago and after reading it I upvoted 40 times or so , then my voting power was decrease to 60 something percent. It took 2 days to get it back to 100%, During those 2 days I didn't upvote until it get full again. I think it was slow and I was not happy with that.

Now I'll just stick to 20 times upvote per day.

And I've just upvoted this post :D
