Well, maybe the first thing you have never heard about Kurdistan is Kurdistan itself. Although there is no a country named Kurdistan, but the word Kurdistan refers to the land where Kurds live and it is now divided into four. The largest part of Kurdistan is within Turkey's boundaries, another part is within Iran, another one within Iraq and finally, the smallest part is within Syria.

Kurds are the largest nation, in the world, without a country.
Two:
Kurds have suffered a lot since the First World War, when Kurdistan was divided into four parts and each part was attached to a neighboring country.

Kurds have an ancient history in Mesopotamia, as old as Sumerians.
Four:
Kurds in Iraq have managed to build their own self-governance entity in Northern Iraq.
Five:
Kurds in Syria have also managed to build their own self-governance entity in North Syria.
Six:
Kurds in Turkey and Iran are still under oppression.
Seven:
Kurds have their own calendar and it is 2717 according to Kurdish calendar, as today.
Eight:
Nawroz is a national holiday for Kurds; a holiday celebrated on March 21st and it is considered as the first day of New
Year in Kurdish calendar.
Nine:
Kurds have their own flag, though they don’t have a state.
Ten:
Kurds have been very effective in the war against terrorism. Kurdish fighters known as Peshmerga and Sharvans of men and women have fought against ISIS on ground and have defeated ISIS.
