Wow. Right on the money. I've read the other post and I agree with your points. I've only been here a short time but I'm struck by the calls for censoring the 'useless' among us. I get the point and I understand both sides of the argument but the truth is this platform is going to grow even more and as it does it will more closely resemble the world rather than just good bloggers who want to maintain the integrity of their community.
The other thing people need to remember is that the ONLY thing most people hear about Steemit is how much money they can make. Then they show up and see $1000 and $800 posts that aren't anything other than run of the mill content, while they're making $0.01 and getting 1 or 2 views. It's to be expected. In a way we're asking for it. It's not right to promote this place, hope it grows and resent the way it looks when you get what you ask for.
I don't want to offend anyone either because I've seen this before in new communities and I understand the dynamic. It's tricky.
One thing that might make a difference is remove the dollar figures from the posts so people stop chasing pennies by upvoting only the posts that are making money. If all you could see was your own income figures it might help balance things out a bit so every post exists on its own merits.
I don't know. I'm not too worried because it doesn't surprise or offend me but it's just a thought.
Thanks for your post and your thoughts.
Oh wow. That's actually such a simple and a genuinely great idea! Please do make a post about this in the development forum or something. This should actually be implemented!
