Steemit gets Roasted

Steemit and other like-minded social blockchain networks like Synereo gets roasted in this article. The article tries to explain how the platforms operate especially Steemit. Unfortunately the article takes a decidedly negative tone on Steemit. Judge for yourself. Link to article is below.

I think they are just pointing out that the blockchain model is not perfect. On Steemit it's democratic in theory, but a few people have massive influence. I think Ned and Dan have good intentions, but we'll see if they can make it work.

Yea blockchain needs work. Forever on the blockchain could definitely come back to bite you in the future. I really want Steemit to succeed though.

We have to be careful what we say here. I also want to see Steemit do well. It has massive potential, but needs to grow faster.

Indeed we do.

Interesting read @billykeed

Thank you for relaying the information. It was mostly a thoughtful article, although with some easily glossed over claims that should probably be questioned.

Also, the sentence ;

Steemit looks much more like a blogging platform than a social network as we know it

. . . stood out to me.

Say what? I know what she means, we do need some more "Facebook"-like features and engagement to make it complete, but as "blogging platforms" was how social media really got started in the first place.

Yes social media came from blogging. I guess for her Steemit is just too different :)

About right for Steemit I would say, its not decidedly negative, its just mildly critical, thats all. I would say that most on here don't like this article as it doesn't praise Steemit to the heavens as a lot of posts do.

Steemit is turning into a place where money is everything and sycophancy is everywhere.

hmm well I try to just contribute with the best of intentions :)
