So the learning curve has begun!
-Lets Steem!
What a wonderful platform! And with so many resources to help from all the great users here, it couldn't be easier. And most importantly -get paid to create content! No more wasting your precious time writing, liking and commenting to make someone else rich. Now you can earn as you blog, write, share and like.
So what is this? Well, in short it’s a social media platform where you get paid to create content. Think Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube. But instead of just being able to brag about the amount of followers or likes you get; here you actually get paid if that happens. (It’s worth noting that there’s other platforms where you also get paid in Steem like https://busy.org/, https://d.tube/ and https://join.utopian.io/)
Paid?
Yes. Paid in Steem. Check out the price/value of Steem here: https://www.worldcoinindex.com/trending/overview or here https://coinmarketcap.com/. Notice how Steem is consistently ranked as one of the top 40 Cryptocurrencies? Not bad! And it’s easy to exchange for bitcoin using any of the exchanges listed https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/steem/#markets.
Interested? Then obviously you would want to know where to begin?
Let’s get started!
A good and obvious artcile, would be to read the FAQ, but I know how it works. -So perhaps these links to articles, videos or software will be helpful:
A handy tip that I picked up, was to load your account with some Steam Dollars and then convert those to Steam Power. This will allow you to be able to cast more powerful votes when you do. Or to put it in ‘Steem language’, these are “Influence tokens which give you more control over post payouts and allow you to earn on curation rewards”.
I would definitely recommend that you read “The Complete Steemit Etiquette Guide (Revision 2.0) here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@thecryptofiend/the-complete-steemit-etiquette-guide-revision-2-0 by user @thecryptofriend. It’s a great read and should get you going. Manners are important you know!
Your reputation, is the ‘Ace up your sleeve’.. So what is a reputation score? Notice that little number sitting next to your name in brackets? That’s your reputation. You want that number to increase. If you are new, it will be 25. Here’s a very good article to find out more about what it means and how to increase it: https://steemit.com/steemit/@cerebralace/your-reputation-score-is-the-key-to-your-success
Personally, I am a big Apple device fan, and as such, I downloaded and installed ‘eSteem Surfer’ for Mac that you can find here: https://github.com/eSteemApp/esteem-surfer/releases Just download the .dmg extension file and install it. For the iOS platform or Apple mobile devices, you can search the App store for “eSteem” or go here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/esteem-mobile/id1141397898?mt=8
- Concerned about your grammar or spelling? No worries! You can use a handy plug-in for Chrome called ‘Grammarly’. It checks your spelling and grammar as you type in your browser. I find it very, very helpful. Remember, this is social media. Not the New York Times. Don’t be afraid to just be yourself. Besides; do you worry about your spelling or grammar in Facebook or Twitter?
Lastly before I leave you to review and learn from what I have posted here; add images!
See the pics I have added here? It gives a ‘magazine’ feel right? I’d dare to say that it even makes the page ‘pop’ a little more. A great resource that I use is https://pixabay.com/. In their own words: “Pixabay is a vibrant community of creatives, sharing copyright free images and videos.” And remember, always give credit where it’s due and never plagiarise.
I hope this short article will help to get you on your way. There’s a small learning curve here, but do a little research and have fun. Always have fun! Let the creative juices flow, be yourself and push your own boundaries by creating your own text, photos or images and even your own videos.
I'm looking forward to reading the comments and usefull tips from the more seasoned users here.
