We are 5 days into Satoshi's treasure hunt now. The 3 keys were given in a clue's last Sunday and the 3 keys have been obtained. The next clues are going live on Sunday from their website

The Plan

We are trying to get as many Steemians involved before Sunday. The discord channel is up and running and all are welcome. The hunt was set up so that 1 person cannot solve this puzzle. The aim of this group is to get as many Steemians trying to solve the puzzle as possible. In my opinion we have the perfect community to achieve this. The community has tech knowledge, leadership , cryptocurrency experts, and great problem solving minds from all over the planet. If we cannot do it nobody can. If we do achieve the 400 keys to unlock the 1 million dollars , the aim would be to keep the BTC in escrow within the Steem community to benefit different projects such as onboarding etc. If we could get as many active Steemians involved I believe we could bring home the top prize. Without the diversity we are doomed to failure from the start. So anyone thinking that they have no skills, that is bullshit. You may be the person who is in a geographical location that there is a clue. You may be the person that knows more about elephant dung than anyone else. It doesn't matter. This is for everyone.

So what am I trying to find?

It is pretty genius really. The company have broken the bitcoin into 1000 keys using a algorithm called Shamirs secret. It is a form of secret sharing, where a secret is divided into parts, giving each participant its own unique part. To reconstruct the original secret, a minimum number of parts is required. This minimum number is 400. So in order to access the wallet with the bitcoin we will need 400 keys. The genius thing about it is that the wallet is live and once someone has all the keys then they can access it. The is great because there is no third party involved. The treasure is there waiting to be accessed.

Who set up the Treasure Hunt.

Lots of people are asking me about this. So here it goes.
A well known crypto currency expert known as Eric Meltzer who is an early investor in bitcoin, Ethereum and Zcash formed a company called Primitive Ventures . The company was set up to promote the use of crypto currency and bring bitcoin to the masses. Gaming is a major strategy in doing this. The treasure hunt concept is perfect way to promote and learn about Bitcoin, keys and the power of this new global currency. Eric banded the idea around with some of his crypto friends and they jumped at the idea and contributed some bitcoin. The hunt would be impossible to be done in FIAT as currencies and countries would have to be involved. It will promote the uses of bitcoin and the power of the tool. It has no boundaries. His partner in the company is a well known crypto expert called Dovey Wan. Many of you know her from Twitter and being spot on in her crypto analysis. On a podcast recently someone asked Eric about the sceptics of the treasure hunt and he replied if he wanted to make a quick buck he would set up an ICO , shill it and disappear into the sunset with millions. Great answer in my opinion.

When did it Start?

Last Sunday a message came down via blockstream about the treasure hunt last Sunday and announced the website to access the clues. The website is satoshistreasure.xyz. The website announced the 3 clues for the first 3 keys.

It gave the locations of the first three keys and where and when to find them. The keys were to be found on 3 different days.

Were the Keys Found?

This is the great part. The first key, the Jade Key , was found in time square. There was a fella reading a book with the QR code on his back. Here he is in all his glory.Sorry about the image.

On his back with the qr code was the word "Orbital" which turns out was the passphrase to unlock the key. The first key was obtained.

So the 2nd key was going to be available the day after and the 3rd key the day after that but a computer expert called John Cantrell had other ideas. He noticed that the url address of the first key was /k1 at the end of the url. He changed the URL to /K2 and the passphrase appear so he was in!! He didn't know the passphrase so he used a brute force algorithm to obtain the passphrase which turned out to be the word Cosmos. Key 2 was obtained.

If you notice at the end of key 2 there is a quote. This has been the subject of debate over the telegram pages. So much so that some people are ringing up rift tech companies in search of a hidden key.

Key 3 was found by a user called Titan who also noticed the URL key and typed /k3 at end of URL. He guessed the passphrase as blackhole from the previous clues and he obtained the 3rd and final key of the clues.
Now the great thing is that John Cantrell found all the keys in under 30 minutes. This surprised the games creaters as they thought it would of taken alot longer than this.

So the 3 keys are public. John mentioned in his twitter that once the game gets harder then he will not be so forthcoming with his code cracking.

What's Next?

So the Steemit community has 100% of the keys so far (because they are public whoopp) The next clues are going live this Easter Sunday at 1pm EST which is 6PM GMT. Now in order to hit the ground running we need you!! Yep you. Resteem ,tell the big boys that run the place join our Discord channel and get this post trending. I don't care about the upvote. I just want to get the Steem community working together to bring the prize back home so we can then decide how best to spend the bitcoin. At the moment we have around 20 signed up to our Discord but we will need alot more people from all walks of life to get involved in this. Groups are forming in the communities like TRON , Verge and other currencies to bring the treasure home. Lets do this for Steem!! Hurry now. We don't want to fall behind.
