Steemit is an open-source, community-based website that pays you for interacting with it.
By voting or liking posts, posting original content and, well basically, doing what you already do on sites like Facebook or Reddit...where they make all the money through ad revenues based on content you're uploading...here at steemit you can earn money...so instead of advertising revenue going into the hands of corporate shareholders, content creators get what's called Steem, Steem power and Steem dollars. In this video Dan Dicks of Press For Truth breaks it down and explains how the technology behind steemit could be a major game changer for how social media sites operate.

If the "lights go out" then fiat currency won't be worth anything either. If crypto goes down that means we lost power everywhere. If we lose power everywhere temporarily then we have way bigger problems then just the loss of our money.
Steemit is going strong. People are adopting steem fast, not bailing out.
The biggest risk I see with Steem is a competitor coming and taking users. Like what facebook did to myspace.
For now full steem ahead. I'm really excited.
Thanks for your well researched article. See you on steem.
Cheers. Stay Steemin

You are correct to say that if power goes out we'll have bigger problems than losing our Cryptocurrencies. But I don't believe a competitor will take users away from Steemit.
I see Steemit becoming the gold standard of 'open source blockchain social media', as to what Bitcoin is to Cryptocurrency. There will be more platforms, like there are more cryptocurrencies, & not all of them are good. But as long as people see the growth of Steemit & that they're rewarded for their loyalty, by being given more control of the platform. It will continue to grow, & eventually Facebook & other money-grubbing centrally controlled platforms will die out, as MySpace did.

True Steemit is strong. I can't picture a situation where something can draw away its momentum. I love it. I didn't do much on facebook and always had a little dislike for it. Steem on the other hand makes me happy. That's important. I think anyone who tries steem will make the switch.

I agree. I was also not one much on Facebook. Way to censored. But because Steemit is owned & given content direction by it's users, it is a freer platform without censorship. Plus, rewards are increased with long term userage.

Good point. It probably has a really high retention rate with very consistent users.
