In Defense of Whales... Discourse, not Discord

I've only been on here for a few weeks, but it hasn't taken long to read one too many articles from the have-not's vilifying the haves 's.

In terms of Steem, Bitcoin, dinero, I am a have-not. I too am sometimes susceptible to a victim mentality. There hasn't been a fair or equitable creation in all the time on earth, but by dividing ourselves from the other we necessarily create a separation between ourselves. We see it in all aspects of life; between ideologies, theologies, race, colour and creed. Once we see ourselves as different from the other we allow ourselves to undermine the value of the other. Our planet and its flora and fauna are al paying the price of us believing we exist on a different plane than them, that we are somehow different, somehow superior. If that wasn't crazy enough, we divide ourselves from each other, warring, pillaging, depressing and controlling one another in a constant state of indifference.

"The opposite of love is indifference"

When we talk at each other, waiting for someone to finish speaking, only so we can address our talking point; we miss the point of the conversation and further, miss the opportunity to better understand the position of the person we are speaking with.

Have you ever gone into a conversation thinking you would easily make your points and convert someone to your viewpoint? Ever actually succeed? The problem is approaching the conversation with an adversarial mindset, rather than one of common understanding.

We are all Steemers, all people (sorry, bots not included), all members of the same community. If we alienate the whales and strive to take away their power and influence, then, quite naturally, they will seek ways and policies to maintain their advantage. This discord in goals causes disharmony in policy and procedure.
Look at the mess of our bipartisan electoral system.

Divide and conquer will never be the way. Divide and conquer is why we are here, what we are trying to avoid. Avoid it with acceptance and understanding.

I don't get why so many people have adversarial mindsets. I love Steemit because so many people have a sharing attitude. Sure there are rewards being offered but I feel the intangible rewards are far more valuable
