It is very difficult to summarize Europe in a few lines. There are places like Switzerland where, for working in a call center, you can earn 2000 euros monthly and there are places like Ukraine where, even if you have a degree, you receive a salary of 180 euros per month. Of course prices vary a lot. In general, Scandinavia and Western Europe are more expensive but with a better economy, in the East prices are cheaper but salaries, even for skilled workers, are a lot lower.

Thank you for your input here. Our news just tells us BS about the rest of the world. I want the truth.

In general news distort internal and foreign affairs. To know the truth a good thing is to go to other countries. I remember of a traveller who wanted to head to Greece to see with his eyes what were the outcomes of the crysis they had. Also, you could look up Numbeo to get an idea of the prices each country has, and kind of determine their salaries. Kind of, because Luanda in Angola is the world's most expensive city but the local wage are a whole lot lower than those working in the oil business.
