Steemit/Dtube Community, I Need Your Feedback!

I Need Your Feedback, Please! :)

For those of you who read and commented on my article from yesterday about how some Steem apps are taking your rewards, I thank you for all of the awesome feedback that got. It's nice to hear the opinions of others so I don't have to rely solely on the thoughts in my own head.

After writing yesterday's post and going through all of your comments, it's really caused me to think even more about how I use the different applications on Steemit. Here are some of the scenarios that have run through my head (or things I have considered doing) in response to all of your feedback...

  1. Go about things as I always have and continue posting to these various platforms, which was my original plan.
  2. Boycott all apps who are taking rewards from people without giving notice that they're doing so.
  3. Continue using these apps while putting pressure on them to create Terms of Service agreements that include the reward beneficiary amounts that they're taking from users.

What Am I Really Wanting to Achieve?

Ultimately I don't want to end up in a battle with these platforms. Heck, I understand why they're using the beneficiary feature to monetize - they have bills to pay and they use that money for further development. I just think this could be done a lot classier. You know... by letting the end user know that some of their rewards are being taken when they use these applications. And it wouldn't be that hard to implement; it would literally take one line of HTML code. So this makes me wonder, why aren't they sharing this information more openly? Why hide it?

Here's What I Want To Know From You...

You probably thought I was going to ask which of these scenarios I should play out, lol. No I wouldn't put that kind of pressure on you. What I want to know is which application do you most often read/view/watch my content. Or better yet.. where do you find my videos? Please choose from one of the following below and let me know in the comments.

  1. Steemit
  2. Dtube
  3. Busy
  4. Other

This information will help me in deciding which application I should focus on regardless of how much earnings I am being paid out. At the end of the day the rewards are just a bonus. If I'm not focused on my following then nothing else really matters does it?

Perfect. Thanks @josteem! That seems to be the general consensus.

Yep ! You also rock 😎😍

Keep calm and steem it :)

@josteem perhaps you should consider using the steemit logo rather than the STEEM logo.

Might be though steem is the original big mother 😅

👍🏼❤️

Nice gif for steemit

Thanks 🙏🏼 .. glad you like it :)

there are days that your dtube videos won't play for me. so, i cruise over to youtube to see if you have uploaded there. more than once, i've been able to watch on youtube while dtube sorts it self out....then i come back and comment and vote. so please keep uploading to youtube....because i was one of the people that waded out in the warm water of steemit because of your presence on youtube. thank you!!!!

That’s great to hear. I’m leaning more and more towards going back to YouTube altogether and embedding my videos here. Thanks for the feedback and continued support!

I Like The Boycott Idea As I Think It Will Push It To Happen. But I Really Think That Something Needs To Happen About It. They Should State That They Are Taking Profits Or By Definition They Are Stealing!

This is definitely an option I'm considering.

I spend half my time on Steemit and the other half on DTube so I find your new videos on whichever App I happen to be on at the time.

Perfect, so you wouldn’t be affected either way. Thanks for the feedback as always @movievigilante. Much appreciated!

My first point of contact is my feed on Steemit and most of the time I am sent to your video on dtube. If it is available on YT and I am at my office, I would watch it there. For sure, Steemit is really the first point though.

Thanks @newageinv, that’s the same for me. 99% of my time is on Steemit. Apppreciate you taking the time to let me know.

I pretty much us plain ol' Steemit or SteemitStage for 99.999999% of my surfing the block chain.

  • I don't usually take the time to watch videos.
    • I do read a lot of posts...

Thanks @wizardave, that’s pretty much how I use steem as well.

Steemit dude .

Go about things as I always have and continue posting to these various platforms, which was my original plan.

You can use youtube links instead .

Thanks @steemian007 for the feedback. I’m kind of feeling the same way.

I read and browse content in steemit. Your videos I open from steemit and it takes me to Dtube, if you have made the video on YouTube then it show's in the post. Thanks for fighting for our rights to be informed of everything. You are a great leader and example for us. Thanks to God that he created you.

Thanks @samaritanfriend, I appreciate your feedback and support.

I am usually on Steemit, because I prefer the Feed it has, DTube only shows me the last 4 videos from my feed on the starting page.
Since I've heard of the 25% before a few times, I only partially read the written post about this topic.

However I wanted to look up if I could find if DTube mentions these 25% somewhere, while I could not find anything about this, I did find the following in the FAQ: "The minimum possible reward is actually $0.02. If your video has less than that, then no payment will be triggered by the blockchain." So that is also a mechanic that exists.

I noticed that too. And I’m not sure if that’s a Steem thing or has to do with them taking 25%. May just be how the blockchain functions. But don’t you think that FAQ would be a great place to answer the question,” How does Dtube support the growth and costs of their platform?” Lol

I'm usually checking for new content on steemit. But I also like Busy because I can use the slider for my upvotes there.

Same here. I’m typically searching and scrolling on Steemit. Thanks @explorer79!

I find your videos in my Steemit feed. :)

Excellent, thanks @powellx5!

I think I originally found you from Youtube or Dtube. Now that I follow I catch whatever comes through my feed. I think most people would follow along where ever the post because it is always useful info

Thanks @headchange, I appreciate you letting me know. 😊

Here comes the Dlive propaganda from Jon again :)

I love Dlive and it's were I focus most of my attention other than Steemit itself. But how I find the stuff I enjoy to read and watch is always on Steemit.

Question though, aren't they delegated like 2 million Steem? (Dtube / Dsound etc) Don't they get a ton of compensation from the powers that be here? Not sure exactly how that works out though...Maybe that's just a drop in the bucket and why they take the 25%?

Interesting though, and thanks for bringing it up man. Appreciate the heads up!

And congrats on 2k followers :) Big milestone!!!

Yeah and I know they use that delegation to give upvoted to people posting on dtube so that does (or can) offset the amount they take. But I’m not sure how many people are actually getting a dtube upvote. I know that I get them fairly often but not sure it’s enough to completely offset it for me.

And thanks!! 2,500 here we come! 😁

Ha ha ha ha ha I know I'm not that's for sure lol . They have their favorites and that's ok. I'm not skilled at all in video production so I need to step my game up if I expect an upvote.

Makes sense tho... I agree with you. I understand taking a fee and all, that's cool. But the more upfront everyone is about it, the better.

I’m pretty new to Steemit but it is pretty much in the order you listed!

Steemit, then DTube, what on earth is Busy because I’ve never heard of it?

Lol busy.org is another user interface for the Steem blockchain which some people have said reminds them of Facebook.

I mainly use Steemit to go through your recent posts/videos and second is Youtube for your other videos as I try to learn more about passive income.

Thanks @fooddadiph, I appreciate you letting me know.

As a rule I find your videos on Dtube. When I'm on Steemit, my interests are centered on well written and illustrated blogs.
About the other thing: even though Dtube is version 0.7, I would appreciate it if they had a proper terms of use page.

Nice points. I guess that makes sense as Steemit is really a better (or only) place for written content besides Busy.org. And yeah, I'm going to be pushing for them to add a TOS and possibly even a monthly expenditure report. We'll see :)

I totally agree with you @brandonfrye that These apps provide us platforms to post videos, music and Coding stuff etc. but they must at least let the Steemians know that they took 25% of their author rewards. I know lots of Steemians never knew about this and I don't think that make sense. I think they should provide a terms & conditions page to let us know about a certain percentage they took.

I also believe that they deserve to take some of our author rewards because they provide us new platforms which is totally different from Centralized Apps and The User's rewards will help them to pay their developers and other expenses, but at least they Must aware us that they will take a specific % of our author rewards.

I Mostly find your posts or visit your blog from Steemit platform. I think Brandon you should not GIVE UP DTube because I know in a long term you will get much success from DTube. I've seen that most of your videos deserved Upvotes from DTube but Still you didn't get. Even most of the funny videos got an upvote from DTube. I think you should Stay on DTube.

I appreciate you Brandon by uploading more videos on DTube!

The Terms of Service page is something I would love to see from all of these applications.. along with monthly expenditures so we know where our money is going. Transparency is key and is really what I aim to push for. And thanks for sharing how you find my content. I believe the majority of people are still using Steemit to find all content which makes sense as everything is published here as well. I'm still undecided whether I'll continue using Dtube but we'll see.

Thanks for the post @brandonfrye. I typically run into your work on dtube most often, but occasionally come across it on steemit.

Do you have a favorite?

Thanks @jdg for letting me know. And yeah, my favorite has to be the original.. Steemit. I spend way more time on Steemit than any other app.

I use steemit most of the time to read your post in my feed. Dtube does not work very well and I never watch video on mobile.

This is one thing that's troubling. It costs me nothing to post my videos to YouTube and embed them here and there are never any issues with my YT videos. So why give up 25% of my rewards only to hope that my video works and that I don't have any trouble uploading it. Thanks for your comments!

I use only STEEMIT
I enjoy every story, video and information.
I really like this platform. For me it's like fresh start, amazing social media. Like my personal page in the incredible newspaper. 😊👍👊

I have seen your youtube videos .

Hi Brandon, Great info here and yeah 25% is a lot

Originally Youtube . I first heard about Steemit through your Youtube channel, so thank you for that:) But I think I'll be reading more of your stuff on Steemit more than Youtube now that I am becoming active on this platform.

I am unable to watch https://d.tube/v/brandonfrye/6d34q7nk that video due to repeated loading failure. I tried many times in different ways at different times and it always fails to load. Do you have any idea why?
