With ARKit 2 introduced at WWDC 2018, developers will be able to create their own innovative AR applications for the world's largest AR platform
ARKit 2, introduced at WWDC 2018, enables developers to integrate various experiences into software, create persistent AR experiences based on a specific location, and make AR applications even more dynamic with object detection and image tracking. Apple also introduced the Measure application for iOS, which leverages AR in order to quickly measure the dimensions of real world objects, and the new open source file developed to integrate AR with iOS 12 in a deeper integration with iOS 12 and make AR objects available across the Apple application ecosystem formatı also introduced usdz.
ARKs 2
Shared experiences featured with ARKit 2 will make the enhanced reality on iPhone and iPad even more impressive. With this feature, multiple users will come together to play games or work together on projects such as home decorating. Developers will also be able to add an audience mode to allow family and friends to best view AR games from a different iOS device.
The persistent AR feature will also change the way consumers interact with AR applications by offering users the opportunity to leave virtual objects where they can return in the real world. Users will be able to start jigsaws on a desk and then continue from where they left off or create a few weeks of artwork without having to start each time again.
ARKit 2 also offers support for image detection and monitoring. Thus, it is possible to perceive 3D objects such as toys and sculptures, and the reflections of the real world can be applied to AR objects. In this regard, the AR experience becomes a much more realistic mix of real and virtual worlds.
Measure
The new Measure application, available in iOS 12, takes advantage of AR to quickly measure objects in the real world like meters. New application; photo frames, posters, and tablets, as well as display diagonal measurements, make field calculations, and enable users to take a photo and share it directly from their iPhone or iPad in the right dimensions.
QuickLook ve usdz
With iOS 12, the AR experience on iOS makes it easy to live almost anywhere. Apple working with Pixar; Messaging presents usdz, a new file format optimized for sharing while maintaining powerful graphics and animation features in applications such as Safari, Mail, Files and News. Using the usdz format, users will be able to see how to place 3D objects in the real world with the Quick Look feature for the AR and how to do something in one place.
