This is going to sound utterly crazy, but there is something amazing about the opportunities on this platform. But, it isn't just about the platform and the opportunities, but about investing and believing in what is happening here. Because this is about much more than just blogging. It is about actually being rewarded for your work. So, let me show a little story about how I actually made more than $1500 by writing 6-7 blog posts!
Crypto blogging contests
About 5 months ago, @steemitblog arranged several writing competitions in which they gave weekly tasks where you could blog about crypto-related topics. I loved the different competitions and joined in. As a result, I wrote 6-7 articles to participate in, and with four of those posts, I won the first prize on that given day. Here you can see those posts:
- A super easy exchange to use for first-time users
- The four seasons of your Bitcoin marriage
- Cryptocurrencies in the future - What will it look like
- DeFi products that will give you a nice interest
If you take a look at the rewards in the picture below, you will see that they were "only" $125 and something around there. And if you have been on Steem for a while, then you know that approximately 50% is curation rewards, meaning that only half the amount was actually paid to me. So, how did that turn into $1500 and more?
Writing is investing...
When I wrote those articles, the price of 1 Steem was approximately $0,2. And since I had 100% power up, I received more than $60 worth of Steem tokens per article (more than 300 tokens per winning article). But, instead of selling them, I just kept them in my wallet. Since I won more than 1200 tokens with my four first prices, and then I had some second and third prizes as well, I actually made earned more than 2000 Steem tokens during those competition days. Thus the actual value of those tokens today is surpassing $2000. Isn't that just fantastic?
So, writing isn't only about sharing your thoughts. When you publish a post on Steemit, it is also about investing and trusting that the future is bright for those who work and who are active on this platform! Don't just look at it from one day to another, but plan big, work big, stay active, and keep those dreams alive. I am for sure happy about participating in those writing competitions, and with this, I want to inspire everyone else as well to follow @steemitblog and to be active on the platform... it might be worth way more than you could ever expect!
It is a pity you are powering them down now !

Good point... been considering stopping the power down. But, I have held onto them for a while, and since I work with tourism (which is totally dead due to Covid), I actually need the money as well! But, glad to see you around and thanks for the reply!
However, isn't that kind of the beauty with Steemit as well, that you can actually help make a living by blogging on the platform, and sometimes, a power down is needed for that to happen?! :)
