One of the most profoundly interesting elements of the #Steemit social media network is that it is an international forum. You can meet new people and make new friends from all corners of this world.
Yet I've also wondered...just how truly international is Steemit?
It's a fair question to ask because despite our "decentralized credentials," if you will, most people #steem in English. Even non-English natives have adopted the use of the English language to communicate with others.
So again, just how international is Steemit?
The answer is, not as much as you might think:
The top 10 countries listed according to total Steemit usage are as follows:
That means that every other country combined equals 32.7%! Even crazier, with the U.S. at 29.5% usage, just one country equals the number of subs from rank #11 to whatever is the bottom!
The Future is Asian
If I'm not mistaken, the STEEM #altcoin is one of the few #crypto #investing assets that's not heavily dominated by an Asian country.
No matter.
I believe that Steemit's future is Asian -- which kinda sucks for the alt-right, but ya know :)
Number two on the Steemit subs list is South Korea, numbers five and six are India and Japan, respectively, and number nine is China. If we go by FIFA rules (which is BS, I know), we can include Australia at number ten.
The future of the #blockchain is definitely Asian, and that should bode very well for Steemit and the digital #market as a whole!

I agree with you that the future of crypto is Asian, but disagree with you on the alt-right.
I think you will find that Asian's and the alt-right have much in common. In fact I have heard many alt-righters looking towards Asian countries as shining examples.
Some similarities:
Asian countries vehemently protect their own culture and are not accepting of other cultures, i.e. China and Japan. Asian countries, have strongly resisted the deconstructionism of their own cultures by progressive ideology, however they will use this well against other cultures.
Immigration to Asian countries for instance is possible but not encouraged.
Even Abe, recently spoke about how they were not going to actively immigrate people to Japan.
Liberal Values are not popular in Asian countries.
That aside, I strongly believe that crypto will be driven by Asia, and my guess will be particularly Japan & Korea. Anectodotal evidence shows me that Japan is very positive in the media about crypto as opposed to western media which is quite negative about crypto. Even if the west wanted to close it down, I think they will not be able to, because of adoption by the east. <- just my opinion

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment, but to be more specific to my intentions, I was making an ironic joke about the common alt-right's claim (espoused by notable figures such as Jared Taylor, and if memory serves correct, Dr. David Duke) that Asians are generally smarter than whites, but the smartest white person will always be smarter than the smartest Asian person.
I hope that clarifies -- I have nothing against the universal human right to express one's views or opinions.

Hahaha I didn't know that claim, to them I would ask:
"are you the smartest white person?"
if there answer is no, I would say:
"then I would be more worried that generally your not as smart as the general Asian."
if there answer is yes, I would say:
"Prove it."
if only we could treat each other as individuals, not as statistics.
That aside the crypto future is definitely Asian currently, my opinion is western powers are making a mistake by not embracing it.
Have a great day!

Haha! Yeah, it's my paraphrasing...Jared Taylor specifically calls it the bell curve distribution analysis. According to this theory, Asians have a wider bell curve -- higher numbers of Asians who are smart. Whites, on the other hand, have a narrower curve -- fewer whites who are smart, but the smartest of whites are the smartest of the human race.
It's probably the one argument that the alt-right makes that humors me to no end, and partly because, to your point, I have yet to see any evidence.
But yes, I generally view western powers not embracing the blockchain as an opportunity missed for them. Furthermore, you are correct: what they embrace (ie. socialism, "diversity" protocols, uncontrolled mass immigration) is exceptionally detrimental.
Hopefully, they will reverse some of their policies because, to be frank, the only country I can safely visit outside of my hemisphere is Japan.

Totally agree, I feel the same way about Japan too. I get the impression that Japan will play a pivotal role going forward.
My observations are:
It seems the West & even China are reluctant with crypto, and coincidentally they both have their own international banking systems (China's CIPS on the way).
Japan very positive and has endorsed crypto as currency (not sure about Korea).
If I was a country and didn't have my own international bank, decentralisation is a gift from the heavens.

That last point you made is particularly important for crypto/blockchain growth. I'm not sure if you're a Formula 1 fan, but rain is called the great equalizer in racing because at that point, it's all about the driver, and not necessarily the machine. Thus, smaller countries like Lithuania embrace the blockchain wholeheartedly because to them, it levels the playing field against the U.S. dollar hegemony.
Would love to also see Japan play a pivotal role, just to show the west the error in their ways! LOL! :)

The above is only a true statement after Ayrton Senna had died. But I get your point.

So true...F1 can be divided into "during Senna/after Senna." I stopped watching religiously after early, mid-2000s...got too boring for me, and I'm not just talking about the racing!

That's very interesting @bullishmoney ! I wasn't aware Spain had that many users... Definitely would have thought on my Venezuelan friends first, since they are very active in the Spanish speaking community...

That's a great point...the Venezuelans bring a lot of energy into whatever endeavor they choose. I saw first-hand at a World Baseball Classic game! Great stuff! :)

Where did you get the data for this? I don't know, I have seen a big number of Venezuelans, Brazilians, Russians, Indonesians and Filipinos posting here, maybe these guys are the most active, and that's why I see so many?

Right, but our personal observations can't account for the mass data that statisticians use computers to analyze; hence, the "surprising" data.

asia may not dominate in blogging on steemit, but they sure do seem to dominate at trading steem.
