I consume a lot of online media and I'd love to share highlights from my day or week of reading Reddit, watching youtube/vimeo and other content I filter through. I’m wondering if Steemit would be a good place for that. What do you think about the moral and financial incentives around curating here?
I read through @thecryptofiend's ediquitte and markdown didn't see anything specific about original content. Some subreddits feature an [OC] tag but is something like that is in the works here? No denying creators put in a lot more work and theoretically deserve more compensation than curators.
Currently there is a movement by a few people here to actively downvote the posting of just pictures, just youtube videos, or copies of interesting articles from around the internet. This mindset of policing and stopping sharing is counter to every social media site out there. Steemit is designed to be disruptive technology, and should actively encourage and make this kind of sharing easy.
He makes a valid point and even with my newb experience here I’ve seen numerous blacklists. He also proposes embedding the content so the Source gets traffic while the curator gets the share. Seems like a win/win.
All that is to open the discussion with anyone willing to chat. What do you think of crossposting? Siting sources? Curating? Copyright infringement? Creative commons? here in the Steemit community...
I strive not to be a man of success, but rather to be a man of value.
