What happens when I promote something?

What does it mean to promote something? What does promoting do? Does changing the amount of money effect the promotion?
Please help me! I am trying to get better at Steemit but i need some help.

Are you talking about the "promote" button @caidenskelton? Don't use that. Seriously nobody looks at the "promoted" posts, It's just a waste of your money.

Promote your posts by upvoting and commenting other people's. It's the only way we know you're here, and (hopefully) remember to stop by your blog and drop an upvote or a comment ;)

to promote something is to actively support it with money or other things.

What does promoting do?
promoting something helps it grow

Does changing the amount of money effect the promotion?
is depends on how the promotion is done. Sometimes paying more to promote something isn't always helpful.

if you thinking about promoting a steemit post here is my suggestion.

Say we have two kinds of posts, one is already popular and people are voting for it but they are minnos. Well this is what I call a good promotable post. It's worth spending money to have more people vote for it. It's already a good post you want to make more people see it.

Another type of post is a not so good post. If people are not voting for it in first few hours. I would not promote it. It's waste of money because no matter what you do, it won't get voted even if its on the front page.

I hope this helps my friend. By the way I havn't wrote a post that I think is promotable in a long time.
