Currently only about 3% of all STEEM that are created are available. The other 97%+ is locked up in STEEM POWER.

The top 10 VESTS holders own almost 70% of all STEEM POWER and almost 60% of all STEEM! The top 10 alone are also responsible for almost 700,000 STEEM in power downs every week, which currently is 17% increase in STEEM supply this week.

Conclusion
Currently the top 10 richest have a major impact on the economy as expected. The top 10 richest have about 58% of all available STEEM in possession and the exchanges have about 31% in possession. This leaves about 11% of STEEM in possession of the other 42,000+ users.

apparently the incentive to hold SP is strong. But once reached a certain SP level there is no incentive anymore and you start power down. I mean you already getting so much SP from just interest and your up votes worth hundreds of dollars. the incentive to stock more power it not there.
Also the flooding of STEEM to the market tells us that the price will go down. if I could short it I would. maybe it's good news for the Chinese whales coming they can power up with cheap STEEM and help eradicate the up trend in STEEM supply from other whales, thus helping keep the price steady.
Like the stated in the whitepaper, it's just replacing one long term holder with others.

Love the stats thank you, any idea on how to find stats for how much voting power you currently have during any given day, I am hesitant o vote on some posts not knowing if I've voted too much or if my voting has reset.
