in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hey All!

I wanted to post an update on something we're hard at work on the past few weeks. We all love Steemit, but feel for Steem to really work as intended there needs to be more avenues for viewing and posting content which is why we are working on SteemDeck. A Social Media Dashboard for Steem Accounts.

Right now, the user interface is bare bones skeleton. We're working on the core functionality and when thats done the design will be updated.

Thanks to those who vote for our witness 'charlieshrem'. The funds from the witness pay goes towards development and hosting costs.

We'd love your feedback on some functionality you want to see!

Core feature list:

  • Follow people or tags
  • Custom layouts
  • Resizable feed columns
  • Save layout to server or local machine
  • Trending tags display
  • Realtime updates

Coming soon:

  • Desktop/mobile notifications
  • Private messages
  • Mentions

Here are some screenshots!

Спасибо, Чарли!

Great initiative - thank you for putting all this time and effort into a tool like this, that can be so useful for the community!

Steemit is still in Beta and many things could be optimized, so I'm happy to see that a lot of Steemians are taking action and working towards improving steemit with so much effort. keep it up!

I didn't see Steemdeck in the list of tools on steempower.org
But, I did see the markdown editor - looks great.
It says I can post this...

gif animations

and have an animated gif running.

Well that didn't work . . .

I have followed u , please follow back

Hi there, i'm the dev at SteemPower - may I ask what you're trying to do?

If you're just copying and pasting from the sample document it may not work on steemit. I recommend you edit your post over there and then click publish for toplevel posts.

For comments, wait for SteemDeck to launch.

Regarding the launch - when it's up Charlie will make another announcement and you'll see the link on SteemPower.org

Hush now...and give me the link to test this! LOL

It's not live yet, but will be soon.

You shared great information. I just visited the site.

Nice man

Cool

Upvoted/Reblogged/shared on SM accts for you. With thanks. Oh and can you contact me, securely.... I have something I would like to run by you and not many people I want to run it by. (: TY brother.

I proposed the term "Dashboard" with similary components a week ago but not with the same result. A minnow is a minnow?

Did you write any code or just produce mock screenshots?
If you have running code then demo it - we could even work together on something perhaps.

Will a WYSIWYG editor be incorporated?
Something along the line of Google Docs perhaps?

We have an editor already which i'm looking at integrating for comments, see https://www.steempower.org/editor

hoping .deb can be made easy install for debian

While it does actually run on a Debian box on our backend, it's a web app, so to use it you go to our website.

We'll probably release the source at some point, but please note it's slightly more complex than just running it and getting a working app - for a start you need things like a blockloader and a steemd instance.

web is fine do you know if you need java flash html5 sometimes i run really low resource hungry browsers usually keep a full function one on hand but isnt as snappy as my preferred ones

It's a pretty javascript and HTML5 heavy so I would not suggest running it in something that can't handle this kind of modern AJAXy design.

If you let me know what kind of browser you're using (including exact versions if possible) I can look into making a lightweight version - but it's never going to have the same featureset in something like lynx.

I actually use mostly firefox and qupzilla. Qupzilla is pretty good with alot of stuff wouldn't do captcha robot thing. It does pretty much everything else i dont have flash enabled in it. I cant get any sites to work with lynx in cli though maybe google a phone number. lol Not sure exactly what version qupzilla but pretty much if it doesnt use flash thats a good start. If you could make it without javascript then without html5 those are pretty much the limits/differences i've noticed between my different levels of browser i use. Dillo is good for simple text qupzilla i use for most searching and whatnot and i use firefox for anything I know is full blown.

I would advise you simply use Firefox for now.

Awesome app!!! :) Looks very useful and more "social media" style, something that Steemit need for sure. Will vote for your witness now.

This reminds me a lot of Tweetdeck for Twitter; I would love to see a small SteemStats section with post/resteem ratios / avg # daily posts etc. Stats are good for the SERIOUS blogger on Steemit who truly wants to hone his craft. Keep up the good work Charlie - and Gareth too!!

Thanks for the comment :)

On the stats question - that might be possible, we need some bigger metal to do that well.

Thanks for the update Gareth - yeah, even just one or two stats would do initially, but if not, I'm sure steemstats.com could do it??

I can't promise anything, but it's something i'll look into - what sorts of stats do you think would be of most interest?

Our current blockloader design could fairly easily be modified to load into a database against which SQL queries can be run, so it is possible - just something that requires more CPU and the ever-precious RAM (which when you're doing steem-related stuff is a VERY precious resource - so much caching is needed everywhere to make it run smoothly).

Average posts per day / Resteem/Posts Ratio / Average up-votes per post etc ... just 3 to get ya started ;)

awesome layout .. when it'll be available ?

Sometime this week, look for Charlie's announcement.
