Hello all, so I was doing a bit of thinking yesterday and started to wonder what types of posts will get you the most upvotes. I mean, we all want to maximize our upvotes as we put a lot of hard work and effort into our posts. I decided to scroll through my previous posts and have a look to see which ones were the most popular.
So my two most successful posts (and in this case I'm judging success on the number of upvotes as this generally means that more people read it) were entitled: 'I met the Queen,' and, 'Could Steemit replace Facebook.' I'll insert the links to these posts below in case you want to check them out.

Firstly I'm going to discuss why i think they did so well. On my, 'I met the Queen post,' I gained 187 upvotes which is my personal record. So what was it that made people want to read this post? To be honest, I genuinely have no idea. In my opinion it wasn't my strongest piece or even any of my best work, so that definitely couldn't have been a factor. Upon speaking about this to my boyfriend @robintherunner, he said that he thought it was because Americans in particular love the British monarchy. Do let me know in the comments if this is the case or if I just got completely lucky and a whale resteemed my post or something along those lines.
Now the next post that did well and that I'm also going to be talking about has a bit more logic to why it did well. It was entitled, 'Could Steemit replace facebook or instagram.' Now speaking entirely from experience and with genuine honesty, I've found that writing posts about steemit (or sadly) to do with money or anything along those lines does seem be more popular. Why this is I honestly don't know, but it's something to bare in mind when you're writing your blog. Obviously you want a blog with a lot of variety, so don't solely post about these things. Perhaps just every so often or once every few weeks if your other posts aren't doing as well as you'd hoped.
Obviously I could be completely wrong with the conclusions I have come to - I mean, I don't have a lot of evidence to back me up. I might do another post later this week where I will do a bit more research into the, 'new,' and, 'trending,' posts to see what posts made the most money in those sections. I just want to quickly say that Steemit is not just about making money. Of-course it's a brilliant bonus and we all are happy to receive those extra dollars, however Steemit is also a friendly community. You should be on here for fun and to meet new people, not just for the Steem Dollars.
Anyway, that's all I have for you today. Please let me know in the comments what you thought of this post. If you found it helpful, make sure you give it an upvote, follow me or resteem this post. It would really help me out. Thanks so much for reading and as always, I hope all you fellow Steemians have a wonderful day. Xx
I guess I need to write more about steemit and money, LOL JK. I actually like the variety I write about even though it will not be of interest to everyone, it is to some. As far as making money goes, YES I want to make money!! I need to make money!! I can write for free anywhere, LOL. I came to steemit to make money doing something I had been doing for free for a long time. I stayed with steemit for the community and friendships I hope to form along the way. I'm sorry if that makes me sound greedy but like so many others, I need to survive. But I am not here just to take and not give anything in return. Steem on my friends!!

This is something that I have been wondering myself... Some of the posts that I spend hours prepping, get little to no attention, yet they are very good quality posts - in my humble opinion anyway. lol
and then, a random photo of mine, with a one liner, gets enormous attention...
I Have yet to figure it out... lol
Thanks for the post. have upvoted and resteemed.

Well, the photoposts get upvotes for the obvious reason.
It seems that being an attractive woman will get you many followers and upvotes on Steem. I see one particular globe trotting cook that gets $1k+ every time she posts.

So true @deanlogic - I once posted a post about posting a post featuring a picture of my tush... hahahaha!! and that generated quite a bit of attention... sadly it was a one time thing (and did not feature any visuals) as I refuse to cheapen myself. lol :)

Well, the funny thing is, the globe trotting cook does put up any racy photos, that I can tell, just makes herself part of the subject.
So, I guess you would have to actually show any skin, just add photos of yourself with the post. I say, use what works, just like I am testing out the minnow bots.

The world always work this way. Attractive people gets more attention when people don't know you. For average people like me we have to work harder to get more attention even if the quality of the content could be the same. I am not complaining just saying it's the human nature that people like beautiful things.
As to what kind of post gets more attention, from my short period of time in this community, I feel like good content on Steemit, blockchain, life self improvement etc always gets higher vite.Building up follower is key for newbies in my humble opinion. My followers are still low, and my articles don't get too much attention from the community. But I just have to ignore it and continue to focus on what I am doing and put up quality content. Hopefully over time followers will come.

No amount of laws or social justice warrioring will change human nature.
I say, try the minnow support bots. And of course, I'm a big fan of making comments everywhere in order to get followers.

Thanks so much @jaynie. Yeah I agree, it's a bit unfair how the system works, but I guess that's how it is. I have followed you to check out your stuff, seems very interesting. :)

Thanks for sharing your opinion!
I think that's too difficult to guess. You do not know which post of yours will be viral. People may like your specific post, which you hardly have to say to your best piece of work.

Money / Crypto / Steem get a lot of views and upvotes because people are on Steemit to learn how to make a quick buck in crypto.
Ironically, my two technology posts I made about IoT were mostly ignored on a technology based site. At this point, I see this as a money trading site. I guess if I could write up penny stock tips, it would be popular too.
