Curtin University is dubbed the largest university in Western Australia. It has over 58,00 students. On July 23, 2019, it announced the launch of a cryptocurrency PhD scholarship program. Donations for the programs are to be done in cryptocurrencues: bitcoin and ethereum only.
The Cryptocurrency PhD Scholarship Fund was designed by Curtin’s own data scientists. And thus, in order to allow crypto donors to make a realistic peer-to-peer payments on both Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchain, the university partnered with blockchain firm Centrality and payments services firm Nelnet International.
The scheme will allow companies and individuals to help PhD students studying blockchain, cybersecurity and data analytics through cryptocurrency funding in either bitcoin or ethereum which the school officials believed that it will help popularize cryptocurrencies as a payment method.

In the keen perspective of Professor Garry Allison, Curtin University Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Excellence, the fund is a good opportunity for cryptocurrency investors to foster a new generation of PhD graduates who will help develop this new technology. I his own words, he said.
“By establishing the Cryptocurrency PhD Scholarship Fund, Curtin will provide the opportunity for entrepreneurs who have realised significant benefits from cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum to give something back to these communities.”
Per the report, the most generous or highest donors can even choose the field of speciality they are willing to sponsor. This then means that wealthy crypto investors can help facilitate the adoption of Bitcoin and blockchain technology by helping fund the education of interested students I this PhD scholarship program.
