So you seen the title which is actually a quote I saw on someone's instagram post a couple of days ago. "You were born an original don't die a copy" a quote by John Mason.

Now to be honest 23 days in steemit and its been a challenging one because this whole blogging thing is such a new experience for me and having a mentality that is quite self critical and been quite a perfectionist has been more of a mental set back more than been helpful. So I have looked at my own instagram to look at a few of my past posts to gain some inspiration to share my inner thoughts and I will write this for you based upon the images and quotes that I am posting here and hopefully even if this inspires one person then I will be content.

"Shine like a diamond" It's a song sung by Rihanna although I am not a dedicated fan just stop for one moment and lets see what is so special about a diamond. Well a diamond is the most durable hardest material known on our planet and no two diamonds are ever the same as they all have their own individual characteristics and right there I found my answer and maybe it is your answer right now so think about this because partially these thoughts are my own self affirmation but also a message that i want to share with you right now. You and me are Diamonds my friend. You are totally unique and complex. There is no need to compare yourself to other people. There is no need to live a life looking for the approval of others, there has never been a person exactly like you there is not one that exists now and there never will be in the future.  

Some people may think I am harsh when I say that, where you are right now is a direct result of past choices you have made because every choice we make has long term consequences whether we are aware of it or not. If you finish your day and you look back and you were not happy with the way it went don't stand there pointing the finger at anyone else because if you look again you will see three fingers pointing back at you. Go on try it, stand in front of the mirror look at your reflection and point at it. Do you see it? Can you see those fingers pointing back?  It's time for a change, oh and yes in the back of my mind I hear Michael Jackson singing  "I'm starting with the man in the mirror " holding ourselves accountable for where we are right now might be a harsh medicine to swallow but I am sure if you were living your dream life wouldn't you stand up and say "Yes I did it, it was all me. I speak to myself as well as you when I write this. 

There was a time when I woke up and realised that I was selling myself short. My passion when I was younger was to be a pop star and okay maybe millions of children had that dream but I was always musical. I grew up fathered by a minister from a gospel background I was reading music from the age of 4 but I was never allowed or encouraged to follow that passion despite excelling very quickly with anything I did musically despite having the ability to just hear a song and just play what came into my head. When I left home I left my church background but I also stopped playing my music. I'm not here to talk about my belief system which has changed because of my curious nature but maybe I will share my thoughts on that one another time, however 6 years back I saw an alto saxophone and picked it back up and it took me 2 months of practice consistently to get back to my former talent and now I am chasing that dream again as a free stylist alto saxophonist because what I love to do is play and perform and give out my emotion and see people been lifted up. Everything else I do in life is just an extra, I am most creative sat at a keyboard writing a song or playing my saxophone entertaining.

Anyway to cut this short and avoid rambling to much this is my challenge for you which is a challenge I actually set myself just a few years back and hell yes there are many reason why I did. When you were a baby, before you could even walk, everyone around you encouraged you to speak that first word, to take that first step, everyone around you encouraged you to dream. When you were asked in your first year of school what do you want to be no one set limits to your dream. What changed? Somehow most of us got conditioned to become something that we are not. The real you is still inside and you will never be truly happy if you are living that life for others around you or someone else. If there is negativity around you then open your eyes and remove yourself from that situation quickly. find the strength deep with in to be honest with yourself and start moving away  from the negativity. It will hurt and it will before it will get any better but soon enough the right people will gravitate into your life so don't go chasing people because it is part of the refining process.


It's time to dust of its time to realise that you are truly uniquely made in every single way. You are much tougher than you think. You have passions and you have a dream so today is the first day of the rest of your life so choose to live your dream and be that diamond that you are because you are precious.
