So far Steemit is pretty cool and I'm having fun using the platform.
Although my blog isn't getting much attention, which is a bit frustrating because I spent a few hours writing a post and only got a few views (single digits). There is no reason why it should get views just because I spent time on it.
At this stage I'm not sure whether or not I should be using bots to grab more attention but the problem with bots is that they're false traffic.
They give you no feedback and aren't a view. So the whole process is artificial and your hoping the big up-vote will give you real attention.
Also your content could be god awful and you wouldn't know because no one is looking at your posts except robots so you put yourself in a bit of a bubble. I also think bots profit more from you than you gain from using them, so I'm against them at this stage.
I also thing that you can pump a crummy blog post and fall into the trap that its good because you getting a lot of up-votes. But if you stopped paying for votes then you would see the true value of your content and it could be that your post will just dwindle away.
Bots are like paying for your blog to be advertised. You climb the trending page but long term this wont be a solid strategy for growth.
In regards to posting, my view at the moment is just to upload stuff which I enjoy posting and if I don't get any views then it doesn't matter because the process was fun in itself.
In general, if your looking to make money on Steemit, the quality of the content is important. I'm very new to creating anything online and I've released how hard it is and how much time it takes to make posts decent. At this stage but I'm learning and trying.
Also posting on Steemit makes you realize how talented YouTuber's such a pewdiepie are and the amount of work goes into producing his videos and the quality of them is very high which you don't appreciate until you try to do it yourself.
Any comments, views etc will just be a bonus. With zero views I can still have fun posting and I'm a big believer in the phrase "don't do anything that isn't fun".
So that's my view thanks for reading or watching.

The key to being successful is simply being persistent. I used to have two fairly big YouTube channels, and administrating both taught me that lesson.
You must NEVER think "Oh well, screw this!", because that way you'll fail 100%.
Instead, the longer and harder you try, the bigger your chances of success become.
I don't think using bots is a good idea, for the reasons you mentioned. That's very reasonable.
Good luck furthermore, and NEVER GIVE UP!!!
PS: Your Wayne's World avatar fits the whole aspect of how success works. :D

You are right! I get about 1-2 new followers with each of my post! You just need to consistently upload. I have figured out that 1-2 video a day is about most efficient way, as uploading more just starts to look like spam and people don't want to spend all their time and power to your posts.

I like your Idea about the bots,
I see they are used on almost all posts in hot and trending.
This is not what steemit was about at all?

One of the issues on steemit is that many people are focused on content creation rather than curation or commenting. Can't blame them since that's where the money is.
Bots do provide a means not to be a starving artist while waiting for that big break but they also make you feel 'dirty' lol.
