It's just a quick thought that I wanted to get down. I see a lot of people chasing earnings without considering what the "earnings" really mean.
Steemit distributes the value of the social network among its participants. If your posts are driven by greed, you might be able to game it for some quick money. But chances are, you'll end up spamming posts that no one likes.
If you make content that people genuinely like, you're adding value to the network and you will be rewarded. Keep it simple and make good content :)
I agree with this very much. From my point of view, the potential to earn STEEM is really just a cool side bonus. I already share a whole lot of content elsewhere on the interwebs and almost none of it has any direct earning potential - not a big deal. You're also participating in a valuable application of blockchain tech by being here. This is the most active blockchain in the world right now. From what I can tell, there's total editorial freedom and very few paid trolls here. Not the case most everyone else.

Hey, that's really helpful. Hadn't really thought of it that way. I like keeping it on power-up as it does demonstrate a certain commitment in my actions here, though :)
